July 2014Thunderstorm WindToltec$100,000Strong thunderstorms developed to the south of Casa Grande during the evening hours on July 8th, and they produced powerful outflow winds which spread to the north across northwest Pinal county, affecting the communities of Arizona City and Toltec. In addition to producing near zero visibility in dense blowing dust, the gusty winds also proved to be damaging. According to a viewer report forwarded to the NWS by April Warnecke (Channel 3 TV), wind gusts estimated up to 77 mph blew down wooden power poles over a mile long stretch of Milligan Avenue on the south side of Arizona City. Additionally, gusty winds from the same thunderstorms blew through the community of Toltec, causing significant damage to the Pinal county Attorneys office. The gusty winds, estimated to be in excess of 60 mph, twisted and destroyed a large amount of aluminum air conditioning ducting located on the building's roof. A Severe Thunderstorm Warning was not issued, instead a Significant Weather Advisory was issued at 1944MST, calling for gusty outflow winds to reach 45 mph.
June 2012Thunderstorm WindToltec$80,000Intense thunderstorms developed across southeast Arizona during the afternoon hours on June 27th. The storms generated strong and gusty outflow winds which spread into portions of northern Pinal county. According to law enforcement personnel, at about 615 pm microburst wind gusts estimated to be near 70 knots overturned a double wide trailer in the community of Toltec. The strong winds also blew down a number of power poles in the area.
July 2022Thunderstorm WindToltec$20,000Report from trained spotter as well as videos from the broadcast media showed about a one-mile stretch of power poles blown over West Battaglia Drive between Sunland Gin and Overfield Roads. Thousands of people were left without power. Timing estimated from radar. No injuries were reported.
July 2013Heavy RainToltec$15,000Thunderstorms produced 1 to 2 inches of rain in less than an hour over parts of Eloy. Without sufficient drainage, water quickly ponded, flooding streets and yards. Water was a foot deep in some streets, stranding several vehicles. Damage due to flooding of homes was minimal, but extensive areas of mud were left on streets and in yards.
June 2024Thunderstorm WindToltec$4,000Four power poles down on Overfield Road near the intersection with Battaglia Drive in Arizona City. Timing estimated from radar. No injuries were reported.
