Report Prepared By: Hal Cole Transportation Planner I Office of Environment/Location Georgia Department of Transportation Aviation Circle Atlanta, Georgia Date: August, 19 88 GDOT Bridge No. 215/00101/X/00084E HAER No. GA-77 (page 2) GDOT Bridge #215/00101/X/00084E is a one-span solid co"ncrete arch bridge. It measures in length, of which 66 1 is the arch span itself, and is in width.

It is one of thirteen solid concrete arch bridges recorded in the Georgia Historic Bridge Survey, and one of two such bridges in Muscogee County. The bridge does not possess a bridge plate. However, according to GDOT maintenance records, the bridge was constructed in The historic context of the bridge is unknown. The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) was established in Prior to the establishment of GDOT, the responsibility of roads and bridges in Georgia rested with the counties. It has been found from researching a number of bridges on the Georgia Historic Bridge Survey that records of construction of bridges on county rural systems and to a large degree on state systems were rarely kept.

Therefore, unless the bridge possesses a bridge plate identifying the date of construction, the bridge company or county officers at the time of construction, it is virtually impossible to associate the bridge with historical events, periods, activities, or people.
