Storms near this place
4 since 2016Regional context, not property-specific evidence. The National Weather Service names Hastings in 4 storm reports between 2016 and 2025: 3 thunderstorm wind, 1 tornado. No death or injury is recorded in these reports. Each account below is quoted exactly as the forecast office filed it, from the NOAA Storm Events Database, and each date opens the federal record of that event.
| When | Event | Place named | Harm | What the report says |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| March 2025 | Thunderstorm Wind | Hastings | $80,000 | Multiple irrigation systems rolled and mangled. |
| June 2023 | Thunderstorm Wind | Hastings | $1,000 | A spotter reported that a tree was snapped in half on their property. Multiple large branches down across Pinkerton and Pierce roads as well. |
| July 2022 | Thunderstorm Wind | Hastings | - | Wind damage. |
| August 2016 | Tornado (EF0) | Hastings | - | A flyover of farm land southwest of Milford revealed a sporadic path of damage through several soy bean and corn fields. The circulation was found to touch down in a field on North County Road 425 West, about a half mile north of West County Road 900 North. An erratic pattern was observed in the crops suggesting a weak, disorganized circulation was in contact with the ground at times, crossing West County Road 1000 N and N County Road 300 West before dissipating. Damage to the crops was not visible from road survey. At the present time, the EF scale does not identify any crops as a Damage Indicator (used to determine the intensity of the tornado) and no other objects were impacted. Given the evidence of a weak tornado, this will be classified as EF-0 with maximum winds of 65 mph. |
