Eddy Street lies within the Russell National District that was listed in This structure is consistent in size and scale to other residential structures within the neighborhood and yet unique to the immediate area in terms of its layout. Description: This structure is a single story, gabled Italianate duplex cons1stmg of framed construction. The structure is unique to the immediate area in that here we have flanked to its east an identical adjacent structure. Both dwellings are similar in detail; though originally designed without a great deal of ornament. Few details still remain at The front door possibly featured a simple bracketed hood on top with probably a limestone stoop leading to the street. Both details are now missing.

The original roof, standing seam metal, has been topped with an asphalt fiberglass shingle. The roof features no overhang along its gutter side and a minimal 8" overhang along the gable end in front. The original 4" wood lap siding with 3" corner boards at the outside corners has now been stripped and replaced with siding. The windows originally were 2 over 2 design and have also been removed. History: A search of the Jefferson County Property Evaluation Administration records indicate that Clara A Stilz was the original owner of the lot in what was known as the Pearce Subdivision in It is interesting to note that Ms. Stilz was also the owner of the property an identical adjacent structure flanked to the east constructed at a later date.

A search of the Jefferson County Property Evaluation Administration records, however, revealed that the structure probably dates into the Circa s. The first occupant of Eddy Street in was Edward Crawford thought to be a local laborer and later a driver. It would appear as though each had been constructed at the same time this being based on the use of material and methods of construction. However, having reviewed City Directories was finished at a later date. It was first occupied by J. A Fischer who took possession of Eddy Street in and in Benjamin Smith, a local peddler, occupied the address. Source: Caron's Directory of the City of Louisville.
