Eddy Street lies within the Russell National District that was listed in This structure is consistent in size and scale to other residential structures within the neighborhood and yet unique to the immediate area in terms of its layout. Description: This structure is a single story, gabled Italianate duplex consisting of framed construction atop a brick foundation. What makes this structure unique to the immediate area, is here we have flanked to its west side an identical adjacent structure. Both dwellings are similar in detail; and both were originally designed without a great deal of ornament. Few details remain at its flanked structure. However, on the other hand our address Eddy Street still has intact many of the original details remaining, giving clue to our adjacent structure.

The front door features a simple bracketed hood and transom above a single door. Missing are the original door and possible limestone stoop. The original roof, standing seam metal, has been topped with an asphalt fiberglass shingle. The roof features no overhang along its gutter side and a minimal 8" overhang along the gable end in front. The structure features 4" wood lap siding with 3" comer boards at the outside corners. The windows originally were 2 over 2 design and have been removed. There are extensive additions to the rear of the house consisting of a room and two bathrooms. Also, in the front we have a concrete block porch addition. History: A search of the Jefferson County Property Evaluation Administration records indicate that Clara A.

Stilz was the original owner of the lot in what was known as the Pearce Subdivision in It is interesting to note that Ms. Stilz was also the owner of the property which is an identical adjacent structure flanked to the west of Eddy Street constructed at an earlier date. A search of the Jefferson County Property Evaluation Administration records, however, revealed that the structure probably dates into the Circa The first recorded occupant was George Perry, a laborer, who later advanced to foreman and lived at that address for nine years. Both apartments appear to have been constructed and finished at the same time based on the use of materials and method of construction. However having reviewed City Directories Eddy had been finished and occupied at a later date.

It was first occupied by John Washington who took possession in and was a laborer. Two years later Simpson Price, a local peddler occupied the address.
