Statement of significance
The town of Sunbury was laid out in 1816 by William and story, brick building measuring 35' x 55' was built and a school, the second floor as a public hall, and the third floor, donated by the Masons, was used by them. more recently the Sunbury Public Library has established itself The hall is well cared for today and remains as a fine example of a restrained Italianate style building. In 1870the Institute closed its doors and the building was public drive to raise money to build a special school in Other (Specify) AREAS OF SIGNIFICANCE (Check One or More as Appropriate) col. G. A. Frambes, a local schoolteacher, headed up a 1868. A total of $6.500 was accumulated and the three- the village of Sunbury had their municipal offices there and Later Art acquired by Berkshire Township to house its offices. Campen, Richard N.
