It is similar in style to the house of Maryland and Virginia rather than those of the deep south. Bie end gables by the two chimneys work in as part of the gable end which serves as a low parapet against which the roof outts. HJhe two storied entrance portico with a pediment is much more refined and graceful in its proportions than the usual work of its period. It is definitely of the Georgian origin rather than the Greek Revival. (The windows with the shutters and the small second floor balcony under the portico as well as the plan have a definite stamp of southern character on the building which is one of the most pretentious and one of the "best remaining examples of the old residences-" (Lutz).
