Dr. Barwell B# Lewis, Congressman for two (2- terms, and President of the University of Alabama lived in this house for a while. ftearee' of Materials James 1. Anderson. Tusealdosa, Alabama* W. -$ Weyman, ' Tascalpoaa, Alabama. Architectural Merit and Data; This home is the type making use of a square box column rather than the more conventional round Greek column, rendering it thereby more severe than the usual Greek Re- vival house of the time. It is rather unfortunate that the second story cast iron balcony should be supported by two central columns.

The interior is not of particular architectural merit, except some ceiling plaster work, the stair being rather plain and the original mantels having been replaced by newer mantels. E.
