|---|---|---|---|---|
| September 2013 | Flash Flood | Circle City | $5,000 | During the late morning of September 10th thunderstorms developed from north of Wickenburg southward towards the northwestern fringes of the greater Phoenix area. They produced locally heavy rainfall; a flood control gage just east of Wickenburg measured 1.25 inches of rain within 15 minutes ending at 1134MST and another gage in Circle City measured 1.26 inches in less than one hour. Flash flooding resulted across portions of north central Maricopa county and by 1125MST a Flash Flood Warning was in effect. Radar and gage data indicated that rainfall rates approached 2 inches per hour in the area from Circle City northwestward towards Wickenburg; at 1233MST a Maricopa County Sheriff's deputy reported flash flooding in the Community of Circle City. Heavy rains continued into the early afternoon and then gradually tapered off. Due to the persistent runoff impacting area roads as well as heavily running washes, an Areal Flood Warning was then issued at 1330MST for the Grand Avenue Corridor extending from Wittmann to Wickenburg and it continued until 2130MST. |
| September 2019 | Flash Flood | Circle City | - | Scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms developed across the northern and western portions of the greater Phoenix area during the late morning, and they continued into the afternoon. Some of the storms generated locally heavy rains with peak rain rates well in excess of one inch per hour. The heavy rains led to episodes of flash flooding, some of which occurred over rather open country such as the Hassayampa Plain well to the northwest of Phoenix. The flash flooding resulted in rapid rises in area washes, causing them to quickly exceed alarms stages. At 1348MST a flood control district stream gauge along Daggs Wash and West Peak View Road indicated that water quickly exceeded both alarm and bank full stages. The flash flooding resulted in quick inundation of area low water crossings. The gauge was located roughly 10 miles southwest of Circle City. A Flash Flood Warning was issued for the area at 1326MST and was in effect at the time of the flooding. No injuries were reported due to the flash flooding. |
| August 2012 | Flash Flood | Circle City | - | Scattered thunderstorms developed across northern portions of Maricopa county during the evening hours, and the storms generated locally heavy rainfall with rain rates in excess of one inch per hour. The heavy rain led to excessive urban flooding, which prompted the issuance of an Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory at 9 pm for north central portions of Maricopa county, including the town of Circle City. According to local law enforcement, at about 945 pm water was reported to be rapidly running across the road at the intersection of 211th Avenue and Highway 74. This intersection is located 4 miles east of Circle City. Law enforcement also indicated that water was flowing over the road at 170th Avenue and Dixileta Road, about 6 miles northwest of Beardsley. This flooding occurred at about 950 pm. No injuries were reported as a result of the flooding. |
