The Caretaker's House was a servant's residence for domestic labor who worked in the Ford Mansion. Description: The original portion of this building was constructed about as a servant's quarters/laundry house for the Ford Mansion. The house is a one-story frame building with a living area, dining area, kitchen, bedroom, bath, and screened-in back porch. It is a "Minimal Traditional" type house with only door surround pilasters and applied shutters as stylistic elements. The interior floorplan was substantially altered in the when it was "modernized." History: The Caretaker's House was completed in around about the same time as the Ford Mansion. The residence was originally located along the Ogeechee riverbank southeast of the Ford Mansion.
In it was relocated approximately to the southwest to its present site adjacent to the garage/stable.
