The Oyster House was used for oyster roasts and elaborate barbeques held by Henry and Clara Ford. Description: The Oyster House is a rustic one-story heavy timber-frame building with an exterior end brick chimney. It measures 17' x The Oyster House exterior consists of a brick foundation, 1O" wide flush board siding, single sash windows with functioning shutters, and a wood shingle roof. A brick walkway leads to the building. The interior contains a single room with an enormous fireplace/baking oven and overhead loft. The small building also features a "secret door" next to the fireplace. History: Former Ford employees and Long), remembered the construction of the Oyster House: Mr. Ford had a party planned for the weekend, and decided they would have an oyster roast with Kilkenny oysters.

So he told his men to build him a cabin for the occasion. That was on a Tuesday with the party corning on the following Saturday. By the time Saturday came the cabin was there. The whole staff came down to see what the carpenters had been able to do on such short notice. The cabin had a sign above the entrance door which read "AIG-ROEG." It puzzled everyone until someone figured out that it spelled "GEORGIA" backwards. Some of Ford's friends had stated they would never come to "backwards Georgia," and evidently Henry had the sign made as a joke.
