Between 1864 and 1867 James Graham started a dry goods store at Madison Mills, continued a year and sold to George Franklin. The store was destroyed by an explosion of a keg of powxler in the cellar, the loss of the stock being complete. The e\'idence of a pre-arranged plan was so thorough that he never tried to collect his insurance.
