Video of several inches to foot deep water rapidly flowing through backyards up against homes in the Bentwillow Drive neighborhood in Niles. Reports of several basements flooded in this area. A pond overflowed onto Niles Vienna Road in Vienna Township, where a car hydroplaned through the flowing water and ended up submerged in the pond. KYNG ASOS nearby reported 2.36 of rainfall in a 40 minutes period.
Thunderstorm winds were estimated at 60 mph along Interstate 80 near Niles. Many trees were downed in Warren and Niles. At least one house was damaged by fallen trees in Warren.
Heavy rainfall with estimates around 2 inches fell across the upper Mahoning River Basin on January 12th. Flooding across Trumbull County produced damages to MetroParks in Braceville and Warren Townships. When this property was proposed for the
National Register, someone wrote the case for it: what the building is,
and why it matters. That document is a federal record in the public domain.

Description of the property
brackets and a porch supported by Doric columns and topped by a balustrade.In the 1920s The exact construction dates of these buildings can not be determined although their -unexposed The main facade of the main block is three bays wide with the entrance on the east side. A rear addition(c.1900s)features a gabled roof with eave returns supported by small _unaltered . ruins features glazed panels, transom and a rounded surround. The tall slightly rounded arched as a veranda with identical brackets and corinthian columns.
The west elevation has a five To the rear of the house and in the southeast portion of the lot are three additional date deteriorated pitched hip roof with wide eaves supported by large brackets.The frieze displays oblong- windows are 2/l lights with plain surrounds.The east elevation continues the front porch clapboard siding. There are three sets of double doors with large hinges, recessed panels style house has a stone foundation and clapboard siding.The main block features a low appearance indicates that they have been a part of the grounds since at least the early 20th century.Their inclusion in the nomination greatly adds to the estate character of 8.
Statement of significance
(in one paragraph) was purchased by the Carnegie-Illinois division of U.S. Steel Corporation. _economics slightly rounded windows and entrance way is one of the best examples of this style and 1883 forced several of the Ward plants to be demolished or relocated in Youngstown. Built in 1862,the Ward-Thomas house is significant as the home of several leading Waddell was a financial and industrial leader in Niles. other (specify) James Ward came to Niles from Pittsburgh in 184l and established an iron plant.As the In 1978,the Thomas heirs gave the house to the city of Niles.It was then turned over during the mid-l860s due to the high demands of the Civil War for iron products of all -art _ archeology-prehistoric _ landscape architecture _ religion kinds.
By the early 1880s, Henry Howe, the historican, wrote of Niles -- "Its iron his house in 1862. James Ward died in 1864 and willed the property to his son, James The house and property were auctioned off in 1887 to John R. Thomas. Thomas established 1879, he purchased the William Ward blast furnace and largely remodelled it. In 1900, it community planning until 1950.John R.Thomas also aided the revival of the iron industry in Niles.In 9.
