“The William Burnett House was a historic farmhouse located near the city of Washington Court House in Fayette County, Ohio, United States. Constructed in the nineteenth century, it was once a masterpiece of multiple architectural styles, and it was designated a historic site because of its architectural distinction.”

When this property was proposed for the
National Register, someone wrote the case for it: what the building is,

Statement of significance
Certifying official has considered the significance of this property in relation to other properties: X locally Applicable National Register Criteria Areas of Significance (enter categories from instructions) Period of Significance 1869 State significance of property, and justify criteria, criteria considerations, and areas and periods of significance noted above. The William Burnett House, located at 1613 U.S. Route 62 SW, near Washington Court House carved window hoods, while the 6/6 windows and entrance with transom, sidelights, and a most prominent of the I-House forms with a symmetrical five bay facade, side-gabled roof, 1987, extends from the side of the rear ell, but does not diminish the overall integrity most intact and representative of that group, the Edward Smith Jr.
Farmhouse (NR listed 12/09/1987) has cornice lines and symmetry that reflect the influence of the Greek Revival style. Decoration is limited to a carved front porch which was added c. 1870. Built c. 1869, the Burnett House, with its generous use of Italianate detailing, marks a 1ater departure from the typical vernacular Fayette County I-House. Only one other I-House with Italianate detailing is located in Washington Court House, at the corner of has a minimum of Italianate ornamentation. a stock barn is displayed in Evert's Fayette County Illustrated Atlas published in 1875.
