Regional context, not property-specific evidence. The National Weather Service names Pep in 18 storm reports between 1994 and 2025: 12 hail, 2 flash flood, 2 tornado, 1 flood. No death or injury is recorded in these reports. Each account below is quoted exactly as the forecast office filed it, from the NOAA Storm Events Database, and each date opens the federal record of that event.

June 2025Tornado (EFU)Pep-An intense cyclic supercell thunderstorm produced a total of eight known tornadoes over portions of Cochran, Hockley, and Lubbock Counties. This was the third of the tornadoes. No damage was observed or reported with this tornado, however, it was directly observed by mobile research radar. This tornado began in far eastern Cochran County before moving into far western Hockley County.
May 2024HailPep-Numerous storm chasers reported a swath of hail ranging in size from golf balls up to three inches in diameter. No damage was reported.
May 2022Flash FloodPep-A cyclic tornadic supercell persisted for several hours near the intersection of Bailey, Lamb, Hockley, and Cochran Counties. This thunderstorm brought copious amount of rainfall to this region leading to flash flooding over a widespread area. Most of the rainfall was observed over far southeastern Bailey County where between three and seven inches of rain fell. While conducting a tornado storm survey the next day, the NWS survey team discovered numerous roads that were impassable due to flooding.
May 2022Tornado (EF0)Pep-A cyclic tornadic supercell produced several tornadoes over a period of approximately two hours. An NWS storm survey revealed that this supercell produced nine separate tornadoes. This tornado was the fifth tornado. Numerous storm chasers documented a brief, small tornado in an open field. Wooden power poles were blown down at the intersection of Farm to Market Roads 597 and 303, approximately two miles south of Pep. Maximum winds were estimated at 85 mph.
August 2022Flash FloodPep-The Texas Department of Transportation reported that a portion of Farm to Market Road 597 was closed due to water over the roadway approximately three miles south of Pep. Radar imagery revealed that storms repeatedly trained over northeastern Hockley County for several hours. Although radar reflectivities were not incredibly high during this time, the repeated storms and very efficient rainfall production led to localized flooding.
June 2021Thunderstorm WindPep-A trained spotter reported several utility poles were blown down near the intersection of Farm to Market Roads 303 and 597 near Pep. The time of damage was estimated from radar.
June 2014FloodPep-A trained spotter reported water covering several sections of County Road 303 south of Pep.
June 2008HailPep-Agricultural officials reported that several hundred acres of small cotton plants were destroyed southeast of Pep near the intersection of Farm to Market Roads 303 and 597 around 21:30 CST.
June 2003HailPep-At least 5000 acres of cotton were destroyed.
