The Deer Creek Powerplant was added to the original valve house structure between and The 86 by 52-foot concrete block and steel beam structure is oriented generally northwest by southeast and houses two kilowatt generators, their turbines, and electrical control boards. The turbines are fed by the original 72-inch- diameter penstocks installed for this purpose. A by-pass system consists of a diversion pipe off of each penstock and two tube valves.

The valves are designed to automatically open, allowing water to by-pass the turbines in the event of an emergency or abnormal condition. They can also be opened to by-pass water for turbine maintenance. During construction of the powerplant, the hydraulic controls for the outlet gates were moved from the gate chamber to the power plant control room. 1 Project History: Provo River Project- 1 U.S. Department of the Interior, Bureau of Reclamation, Utah, Deer Creek Division, Vol. XX, submitted by E. 0.
