Thunderstorm downburst winds produced a swath of damage across northern Ashtabula County. Damage stretched from the Jefferson area northeastward across Sheffield Township and into the Conneaut area. Significant tree damage was reported in Jefferson. A residence in Sheffield Township along Peebles Road had nearly 70 trees toppled. Dozens of trees were also downed in the Conneaut area with at least five homes in the town heavily damaged by fallen trees. Scattered downed trees were reported across the remainder of the area. Many power outages were reported.
Thunderstorm winds downed several large trees and power lines. Farm equipment was overturned and a roof was blown off a barn. Siding on an industrial building was damaged during this event as well.
The media reported numerous trees down in Jefferson and Sheriff's office confirmed trees and powerlines down across the county. First Energy reported 5000 customers lost power.
A large tree limb was downed on a house. Lawn furniture was blown across the yard. Neighbors homes were unaffected and a very small microburst is suspected.
Two men, ages 55 and 31 were struck by lightning while leaning on a metal pole in their yard. Both men were treated for minor injuries at a local hospital.

Description of the property
In 1978-1981 considerable restoration has been done, but no structural repaired. Some doors, ticket shelves and trim boards were obtained Condition deteriorated ruins fixtures remain in the agent's room, and reproductions have been installed unexposed fair construction, with exterior board-and-batten walls. The wide overhanging station agent, passenger waiting room, and baggage room. 7. Description used and repaired as necessary.All windows and doors have been windows have double-hung sash.The station contains spaces for the elsewhere.New electrical wiring has been placed in existing conduits. has been restored with fixtures comparable to those originally used. Many original railroad furnishings have also been located and installed. The interior is heated with the original stove.

Statement of significance
(in one paragraph) A typical small railroad depot of the 1870s, the Jefferson station of the Lake Shore & Michigan Southern Railroad has important local associations in 1863 to build a branch line of the Cleveland, Painesville & Ashtabula Railroad. It was resolved to locate and construct a railroad line to state line, starting at the main line in the village of Ashtabula and going in 1864 and a large amount of grading was done, the work was abandoned Meanwhile, the Cleveland, Painesville & Ashtabula, originally formed in 1848, merged with the Cleveland & Toledo and the Michigan Southern completed, and trains started running from Jefferson.
