Date of erection: Ca. late century. 2. Architect: Unknown. 3. Original plans of construction: None known to exist, k. Original and subsequent owners: B. Doane in Atlas . . . p.TO. S. Doane - map of Dr. Maurice Richardson, Frank W. Benson, and Edward L Pierson "bought in I892 from someone named Smith. Wyman Richardson, bought the house in She bought the shares from the other owners. PART II. ARCHITECTURAL INFORMATION 1. Alterations and additions: Richardson said that the house was in very bad shape when they bought it.

The proceeds from her hus- bands book "The House on Nauset Marsh", published in which was a compilation of a series of articles he had written for maga- zines was used to make extensive repairs on the house. When the chim- ney fell through the house, the wood all around it was found to be very charred. In stripping back the paint down to the natural wood, they discovered all manner of colors. The walls were a strong ochre yellow color, and the paint on the woodwork was a pink and an apple- green. There were several two-panelled doors in the main room of SIMEON DOME HOUE HABS No. MA-735 (Page 2) the house. Richardson said that the mantel now used in the bedroom, hut was apparently from the front room, is odd looking, sort of "one-sided" as she calls it.

When she installed electricity in in working in the ell, which heretofore had never been touched, they found shelves built right into the wall, and the wood was like iron when cut. Prepared by: Donald B. %er Historian National Park Service Cape Cod Project Summer
