Packard 1764. - Adam m. a Leonard, and he and Silas went to Canton. - Benjamin removed also. - Zebina went to West Point, N. York.

5. Capt. Daniel (s. of Silas 3.) m. Polly, D. of David Keith, 1785, and settled in E. B., and had Nabby K., Polly*, Daniel, and Justin. Nabby K. m. Capt. Cyrus Alden 1808. - Capt. Kinsley and Capt. Alden went to Minot, Me.

6. Rodolphus (s. of Silas 3.) m. Salome, D. of Ephraim Cary, 1794, and settled in E. B., and had a family, and removed to Pawtucket, N. Providence, where she d. He d. at Canton : he had William H. Shepard and others. His s. William Holman is a minister.

LATHAM. - William Latham was at Plymouth 1623; at Duxbury 1637, where he sold house and land to Rev. Ralph Partridge 1639; at Marshfield 1643, where he and Roger Cook had their house burnt 1648. - Cary Latham and his wife Elizabeth, at Cambridge, had Thomas, and Joseph 1639.

1. Robert Latham was Constable at Marshfield 1643; was at Cambridge two years in the Rev. Thomas Shepard's family ; was s. probably of William, and Cary might have been his uncle. He m. Susanna, D. of John Winslow, brother of Gov. Edward, 1649, and had Mercy 1650 (at Plymouth), James, Chilton, Joseph, Elizabeth, Hannah, Sarah: he took the oath of fidelity at Marshfield 1657; settled at E. B. before 1667: his wife's mother was the famous Mary Chilton, who is said to have been the first female who set foot on the Plymouth shore 1620. Her father James Chilton, and her mother Susanna, both d. the first winter. Latham named his two first sons, after her grandfather, James and Chilton. - Mercy m. Isaac Harris. - Joseph was at Providence 1690 and 1703, whose wife Phebe signed a Deed 16S8. - Elizabeth m. Francis Cook 16S7. - Hannah m. Joseph Washburn Jr. - Sarah m. John Howard Jr.

8. James (s. of Capt. Chilton 3.) m. Abigail Harvey of T. 1739, and had Abigail 1741, Arthur 1742, Mary 1744, James and Susanna. Mary m. William Britton of Raynham 17G6. - Susanna m. Seth Brett 17C9. This family and Brett also went to Winchester.

10. Joseph (s. of Joseph 5.) m. Mary, D. of Joseph Prior, 1748, and had James 1748, Hannah 1751, Nanny 1703, and Winslow. James m. Esther Baker of R. 1709. - Hannah m. Josiah Hathaway 1700, and the whole family went to Oakham or Pelham.

11. Thomas (s. of Joseph 5.) m. Abigail Hanmer 1752, and had Nabby 1753, William 1756, Betty 1757, Thomas, Benjamin, Lucinda, Stephen and Roland. He d. of small-pox 1778, ae. 49 ; she d. 1780, a?. 55. - Nabby d. 1785, as. 32. - Betty d. 1785, ae. 28. - Lucinda m. Joshua Pool 1783. - William and Thomas served in the revolutionary war and went westward. - Benjamin went to Providence. - Stephen m. Nabby, D. of Amos Whitman, and he and Roland went to Me.

12. Nathaniel (s. of Joseph 5.) m. Mercy, D. of Nehemiah Leach, 1750, and had Nathaniel and Levi, and d. young. Nathaniel d. 1770 at N. York in the army.

18. Levi(s. of Nathaniel 12.) m. Hannah, D. of Eleazar Alden, 1782, and had Nathaniel, Cyrus, Susanna Alden, Robert 1793, Marcus 1795, and then with his mother and family went to Windsor, and there had Lewis and Hannah. - Nathaniel was a Deacon at Windsor 1816.

19. Galen (s. of Woodward 14.) m. Susanna, D. of Eleazar Keith, 1802, and had Williams 1803, Galen 1805, Charles Austin 1807, Rowena Williams 1809, Susanna 1812, Eliab ISIS. - Williams gra. B. U. 1827, and is settled as an Attorney in S. B. - Galen m. Esther, D. of Azor Harris Esq.

21. Robert (s. of Arthur of Lyme: see Nehemiah 16.) and Polly his wife lived awhile in E. B., and had John Tomson 1805. He returned to Lyme : he had two brothers, Allen and Bela, who were educated and read law in E. B., and settled as Attorneys in the western country : he had also a brother William Harris, and others.

LATHROP. - Mark Lathrop (probably from Duxbury ; perhaps from Weymouth or Braintree) settled in W. B. as early as 1656, but not an original proprietor, nor had he any known connection with any of the name in N. E. He has been supposed by some to have descended from the Rev. John Lathrop of Scituate, but this cannot be ascertained, nor is it probable. He d. a. 1686, and had Elizabeth, Mark, Samuel, and Edward : no w. is mentioned. - Elizabeth m. Samuel Packard Jr. - Mark "designed into the war," made his will 1690, and d. in the Canada expedition. - Edward d. a. 1696 without children.

10. Joseph (s. of Mark 5.) m. Content, D. of John Washburn, 1746, and settled in E., and had Seth, Jonathan, Joseph, and probably others. Susanna Lathrop m. Abiel Lapham 1786.

14. Jonathan (s. of Samuel 7.) m. ChloeDickerman 1765, and had Lemuel 1766, Libeus 1769, Sarah 1772, Chloe, and perhaps others. Libeus m. Charity Wharton 1803, and settled in E. - Sarah m. David Alger 1790. - Chloe m. Jacob Fisher 1797.

15. Mark (s. of Samuel 7.) m. Elizabeth Dickerman, b. 1758, and had Elijah 1780, Mark, Spencer, Betsy and Silvia. Elijah m. Lavinia, D. of Barnabas Dunbar, 1818, and settled in St. - * Mark m. Katy, D. of Capt. Amasa Howard, 1805, and had

LAZELL. - John Lazell (at Hingham 1647) m. Elizabeth, D. of Stephen Gates, 1649, and had John 1650, Thomas 1653, Joshua 1655, Stephen 1656, Isaac 1660, Mary, Sarah, Hannah 1666, Israel 1671 : he d. a. 1695. Mary m. a Burr. - Sarah m. Peter Ripley 1693. - Hannah m. a Turner. - Thomas m. Mary Allen at Duxbury 1685, and settled there, and was afterwards at Plympton, and then at Falmouth, and finally at Windham, Conn. John, Stephen and Israel remained at Hingham. - Joshua d. 1689 ; his Wid. Mary ; he had Elizabeth, Martha, Joshua and Simon. - Simon at Plymouth and Joshua at Duxbury 1709 : Joshua had lived in Mendon where a Joshua Lazell d. 1832, se. 81. - Simon went to Mid'o, and many of his descendants lived there and in S. B. - Isaac m. Abial (or Abihail), D. of John Leavitt, and d. at Hingham 1690, leaving a son Isaac and a D. Abial: his Wid. m. Isaac Johnson, who came to W. B. a. 1700, and brought these two ch. of his wife with him. This name is variously written in the early records, Lazell, Lascelle, Lessell, Hazell, Hazael, Hassell. There is reason to believe the name was originally French, and written La Hassell, and thence corrupted to Lassel and Lazell. - John Hassell was made free in Mass. 1637. - Richard Hassell made free 1647.

1. Isaac (s. of Isaac and gr. s. of John of Hingham) came to Bridgewater a small boy a. 1700, as above stated. (His sister Abial also came with him and m. Samuel Lathrop 1710.) Hem. Mary, D. of Daniel Hudson, 1719, and had Isaac 1725, John 1727, Hannah 1729, Daniel 1734 : hed. before 1766, ae. a. 75. - Hannah m. Nathan Conant 1753.

2. Isaac (s. of Isaac 1.) m. Bethiah, D. of Joseph Alger, 1748, and had Edmund 1750, Silvanus 1752, Mary 1754, Isaac 1756, Nathan 1759, Ebenezer 1761, Joseph 1767. He removed to Cummington in his old age, and there his wife d. and he m. Abigail, Wid. of Capt. Jacob Allen and D. of Capt. Israel Bailey : he d. se. over 80. - Mary m. Seth Reed of Abington 1776, and lived and d. at Cummington.

80. John m. Lucinda Stetson 1787, and he a3. 56, and his D. vs. 18, both d. 180G. - Luther settled in Abington, and had Daniel and a D. who m. Libeus Gurney. - Molly m. Eliab Washburn 1777, and moved to Paxton. - Eunice m. a Pool. - Patty d. single 182G.

4. Daniel (s. of Isaac 1.) m. Huldah, D. of Nehemiah Leach, 17G1, and had Robert, Calvin, Chloe 1772, and two other Ds. He removed to Ashfield, and d. of small-pox in the revolutionary war 1776. - Chloe returned to E. B., and d. 1832, se. 60, not m.

5. Capt. Edmund (s. of Isaac 2.) m. Mary, D. of Hezekiah Ford of A. and went to Cummington, and had Edmund and Martin ; the latter had a college education, and both d. young. He had also Mary, who m. Col. Trowbridge Ward of Worthington, Huldah, who m. Jonathan Dawes, and Deborah, who m. Benjamin Hobart Esq. of A. He is now (1S40) living; she d. 1836. He and Judge Davis of Boston are the only surviving members of the Convention for adopting the U. S. Constitution in 178S.

8. Nathan Esq. (s. of Isaac 2.) m. Deborah D. of Timothy Conant 1783, and had Hannah, Susan, Sally, Deborah, Nathan, Caroline, Harriet, Julia ; he d. 1832. Hannah m. 10. Joseph, (s. of Isaac 2.) m. Abigail D. of Capt. John Ames, 1787, and had a D. Bethiah : he went to Charleston S. C. and he and his w. both d. there of the yellow fever Aug. 1799. - Bethiah returned and m. Asa Mitchell Esq. 180C, and settled at New Gloucester and had a D. Sarah Harris : he d. and she returned again to E. B. and m. George Young Phillips 1812, and went to Poughkepsie, N. Y. - Sarah H. m. there an Overocker, and d. young.

13. Simon (s. of Joshua of Hingham probably) m. Joanna Wood 1742, (his 2d. w. perhaps) his will 1745 : he had Joshua, Jacob, William, Abner, Lydia, (1st wife of old John Alden,) Mary Wood, and Sarah : he first lived at Plymouth, and afterwards at M. where he d. His first Avife perhaps was Margaret D. of Jacob Cook of Plymouth m. 1716.

14. Joshua (s. of Simon 13.) in. Elizabeth D. of John Prince and wid. of Seth Ames 1742, and d. a. 1753 : he had Prince, Elizabeth, Mary. He d. 1749 at M. where he lived ; she was niece of Rev. Thomas Prince, the chronologist.

15." Jacob (s. of Simon 13.) m. Elizabeth D. of Richard Davenport of S. B.1749 lived in M. and d. 1753, and gave his estate to his child, if it should be born and live. - Molly Lazell m. William Cole 1774.

16. William (s. of Simon 13.) m. Eunice D. of Richard Davenport Jr. 1759, and lived in S. B. and had Eunice 1759 : he removed from B. and had Joshua, William, John, Abner, Jacob, Rufus, Isaac, Levi. William went to Philadelphia. - John was a physician, and he and Abner went to New Salem. - Jacob went to New York. - Rufus went to Pennsylvania.

17. Joshua (s. of William 16.) m. a Pratt in S. B. and Avent to Ware, thence to Windsor, thence to Pomfret Vt. and had Levi, Rufus, William, Isaac, John.

15. Isaac Lazell of Wardsbury Vt. and his Avife Hannah had Nathan, Isaac, Mariel, Thomas, Samuel, John, Rachel : he d. a. 1827. Nathan lived in Carroll, Co. of Chautaugue N. Y. - Isaac lived in Dover, Co. of Windham Vt. - Rachel m. a Taylor.

19. Robert Esq. (s. of Daniel 4.) lived in Buckland, and had Marshall, Hiram, Alva, Philip, Robert, and 5 Ds. ; he d. 1626 Avhile a member of Gen. Court at Boston. - Marshall Avent to Pennsylvania. - Hiram and Philip Avent to N. York.

LEACH. - Giles Leach (from Weymouth) settled in W. B. before 1665 ; m. Anne Nokes 1656 ; she lived in Dea. Samuel Bass' family in Braintree ; he had Sarah 1656, Elizabeth, Samuel 1662, David, John, Ebenezer, Benjamin and perhaps others. - Sarah m. John Aldrich. - Elizabeth m. John Emerson 1693. - Sarah and Samuel b. at Weymouth.

8. Seth (s. of Sam'12.) m. Mary D. of Thos. Whitman, and had a son Seth, who had a s. Thomas, who was probably father of Mr. Caleb Leach formerly of Plym., the clock maker and ingenious mechanist. Seth Leach in. Jane D. of Joseph Harvey 1732.

9. Elijah (s. of Samuel 2.) m. Jemima D. of Benjamin Snow 1745, and had Elijah 1746, Jemima 1749 ; he removed to Westmoreland. Elijah Leach's wife died 1763. - Elijah Leach m. Ruth Prince of Kingston 1764. - Jemima Leach m. James Lovell 1785.

LEONARD. - 1. Solomon Leonard (from Duxbury) an original proprietor, and one of the earliest settlers in Bridgewater. - The name was sometimes written Leonardson, Lennerson, or Lenner, but by the family themselves always written Leonard. He d. 1686 : his widow Mary ; his children were Samuel, John, Jacob, Isaac, Solomon, and Mary who m. John Pollard of T. 1673.

2. Philip Leonard's estate was settled at Duxbury 1708 by his son-in-law Samuel Hill, who in. Phebe 1694 : this man might have been brother or son of Solomon.

3. Samuel (s. of Solomon 1.) settled his father's estate 1686, the first settlement recorded in Plymouth Probate Court. - Samuel perhaps went to Worcester.

Samuel Leonardson, a boy taken by the Indians at Worcester Mar. 15, 1697, was allowed if 12 10s. for escaping from them, and slaying several of them, about 1700. - (Mass. Records.)

MITCHELL. - 1. Experience Mitchell was one of the forefathers, (a name usually applied to those, who arrived in the three first ships) and came over in the third ship, the Ann, in 1623: he sold his place in Plymouth to Samuel Eddy in 1631 and removed to Duxbury, where he purchased Wm. Paybody's house and farm 1650: he was an original proprietor of Bridgewater, but sold his share or proprietary right to Thomas Hayward ; he came to Bridgewater late in life, with his son Edward ; while at Plymouth he lived at Spring Hill, so called, and at Dux- bury he lived at a place called Blue Fish River : at Bridgewater he lived at a place called Joppa, where his descendants still live : he d. 1689 a?, a. 80 ; his will dated 16S4 : he was at Leyden with the Pilgrims and left a brother Thomas, who lived and died in Holland : he had a share in the first division of Lots at Plymouth in 1623, and of the live stock in 1627 : it is supposed he m. Jane D. of Francis Cook for his first wife : the wife of his old age was named Mary, but her family name is not ascertained ; he had a sister Constant, who m. John Fobes : the names of his children as appears from his will, deeds, and other written documents, were Thomas, John, Jacob, Edward, Elizabeth, Mary, Sarah and Hannah. Thomas first had land of his father at Dartmouth, but relinquished it again to his father 1669, who the same day conveyed it to Jacob. There is no farther account of Thos. Elizabeth m. 3. Jacob (s. of Experience 1.) m. Susanna D. of Thomas Pope of Plymouth 1666, and settled at Dartmouth, now Fairhaven, was a carpenter and an Ensign, and in 1675, at the commencement of Phillip's war, was killed and his wife also by the Indians early in the morning as they were going to the garrison, whither they had sent their children the afternoon before ; they both lived to reach the garrison, but d. of their wounds ; their children were Jacob, Thomas, and Mary ; the children came to Bridgewater, and were taken care of and brought up by their uncle Edward. - Mary m. Samuel Kingman 1696.

4. Ensign Edward (s. of Experience l.)m. Mary D. of Thos. Hayward, and lived with her 40 years without children ; she d. and he then, 1708, m. Alice D. of Maj. John Bradford of Kingston s. of William Jr. and g. s. of Gov. William ; she was b. 1678, and d. 1746 as. 67; he bought Francis West's proprietary right, and settled in E. B. before 16S2 ; he had Mary 1709, Alice 1714, Edward 1716 ; he d. 1717, and it is said he was near 70 years of age when his son Edward was born : his wid. in. Dea. Joshua Hearsey of Hingham and removed thither with her children, and Mary m. Joshua, and Alice m. Noah, ss. of Dea. Hearsey, who had also a D. Sarah by his last w., who m. Thomas Loring and d. 1798. Edward sold the family estate at blue fish river in Duxbury to Samuel Sprague 1708, which his father had conveyed to him in 1670.

a family: one of his descendants by the name of Experience d. a few years since in Uxbridge over 100 years of age, and left a s. John in or about Gloucester R. I. : there was also a Capt. Elisha Mitchell and Maj. Thomas and Darius Mitchell in that vicinity, probably of the same family. - Elisha is mentioned in R. I. records in 1700.

Bathsheba Fillips probably ; first lived in Plymouth 1711; and settled in Kingston about 1719, was a Tanner, and had Sarah 1711*, Hannah 1713, Joseph 171.4*, John 1716*, Mary 1718, Sarah 1719, Bathsheba 1721, Alice 1723, Joseph 172G, Benjamin 172S, Martha 1731, Ruth: his w. d. and he m. 7. Jacob (s. of Jacob 3.) m. Deliverance D. of John Kingman 1696, and had Jacob, 1696 : he removed to Kingston, and there had a 2d. wife Rebecca D. of Isaac Cushman probably, he was a blacksmith, and sold his house and lands to Benjamin Sampson 1728, and removed to North Yarmouth Me., and d. a. 1744.

8. Thomas (s. of Jacob 3.) m. Elizabeth D. of John Kingman 1696 : he, his brother, and sister Mary, were all m. at the same time, and all m. Kingmans, who were also brother and sisters : he had Thomas 1696*, Henry 1698*, Timothy 1700, Susanna 1703, Edward 1705*, Elizabeth 1710, Mary 1713, Seth 1715; he d. 1727 ; she 1733 ; he lived in S. 11. Dea. Jacob (s. of Jacob 7.) m. Mary Howland 1721, and settled in Pembroke, and had Jonathan 1724 ; his wife d. and he m. wid. Rachel Cushing, sister of the Rev. Mr. Lewis, and had David 1728, Rachel 1730, Jacob 1732, Sarah 1736 ; he removed to North Yarmouth. - Rachel m. a Chandler. - Mary m. Judge Lewis. - Sarah m. a Gray.

12. Timothy (s. of Thomas 8.) m. Deborah D. of Nathaniel Packard, and had Thomas, Nathan 1729, Ahiel, Deborah, Timothy* ; he d. 1733: she 1744. Deborah m. a Bliss of Rehoboth 1730. - Timothy was lost at sea with Winslow Hooper, both young. - There was a wid. Mitchell d. in S. B. 1762, perhaps she was Sarah Mehurin, who m. John Mitchell 1751 ; this John is the man perhaps who was under guardianship of Jonathan Howard 1742, and was from Milton.

20. Bela (s. of Col. Edward 9.) settled in Charlestown, and there m. Nancy, D of Maj. Calder, and had Nancy and Bela, and d., and his wid. m. a French.

23. Col. Abiel (s. of Timothy 12.) settled in Easton, and m. a D. of Eliphalet Leonard, and had Thomas, Abiel, Timothy, Eliphalet, Leonard, Deborah, Ruth, Mary, Sally, Susanna. He d. 03. 88. Thomas m. 40. Thomas (s. of Thomas 21.) m. Mehitabel, D. of Capt. Joseph Alden, 1797, and went to Greenwich (Enfield) and had a family. One D. m. a s. of Walter Hayward.

41. Nathan Esq. (s. of Nathan 22.) m. Rachel, D. of Benjamin Byram, 1793, and had Mary and Nathan. Mary m. Maj. James Seymore Allen 1816, who d. young, leaving one child Mary. - Nathan lived awhile in Boston.

43. Josiah W. Esq. (s. of Jacob 24.) m. Sally, D. of Oakes Angier Esq. and settled as an Attorney in Freeport, Me., and had Susan A., Harriet Lavinia, and Josiah Angier. His w. d. and he m. Elizabeth, wid. of Elisha P. Cutler Esq., her maiden name Delano, and had Victor Moreau, Ezekiel Whitman, Frederick, Lucia, and Sarah Elizabeth.

There was a John Mitchell in Marshfield 1825, a?. 85, whose father John came from old York, Me.: his grandfather was killed by the Indians : "his father told him he was related to the Mitchells in Bridgewater :" he has several children and grand children in and about Marshfield.

45. William (an Englishman and Iron Founder) came over within a few years with his wife and had William*, John, Henry ; his wife d. and he m. Susanna D. of Asa Forrist 1821, (her mother was Susanna D. of Seth Mitchell 13,) and has William, and Hannah Hall.

MONRO. - Alexander Monro with his wife Mary Hutchinson m. 1775, lived many years in East Bridgewater : he was a Scotchman : they had several children, viz : David 1777, Jennet 1779, William 1781, Eunice 1785, Jane 1788 ; and Mary 1771, and Nancy, hoth by a former wife : his first wife d. 1774, ae. 40.

Daniel Hudson 1697. - Andrew, and Benjamin we have no account of. - Joseph sold land here 1697, and speaks of himself as formerly of B. - Thomas sold land and a small house near Joseph Alden's 1700.

PACKARD. - 1. Samuel Packard and his wife and child came from Windham, near Hingham, in England, in the ship called "The Diligent of Ipswich, 133 passengers, John Martin master," and settled in Hingham here 1638 : he thence came to W. B. and d. a. 1GS4, the date of his will ; he was constable 1604, and licensed to keep an ordinary, or tavern, 1670 ; he had Elizabeth, Samuel, Zacheus, Thomas, John, Nathaniel, Mary, Hannah, Israel, Jael, Deborah, and Deliverance. Elizabeth m. Thomas' Alger of Easton 1005. - Thomas was here 1073, and Israel was appointed Trooper 1071, and no farther account of them. - Mary in. Richard Phillips of Weymouth. - Hannah m. Thomas Randall. - Jael m. John Smith. - Deborah m. Samuel Washburn. - Deliverance m. Thomas Washburn. - In the early records both at Hingham and Bridgewater the name is written Packer, and was here formerly invariably pronounced so. The name on the town Records was also sometimes written Peckar, Pecker, Peckard, and Peckerd, but by the family has been generally written Packard.

2. Ensign Samuel (s. of Samuel 1.) m. Elizabeth D. of Mark Lathrop, and had Samuel, Daniel, Joseph, Elizabeth, Mary, Susanna ; his estate settled 1098. Susanna m. John Snell 1715. - Mary m. Amos Snell 1700.

4. John (s. of Samuel 1.) lived at S. B. near the bridge, which was called, after him, Packard's bridge, 1088, and since called Pope's bridge : his estate was settled 1741 by his son Joseph. - Wid. Packard d. 1701 very aged.

This man lived awhile in the border of Halifax, near his brother Thomas, but d. in Pembroke. - Samuel Esq. m. Sarah Pratt of Mid'o, and settled in Hebron, Me., and is father of Albion Keith Parris, late Governor of Me. - Matthew m. 2. Benjamin, b. 1760, (s. of Thomas of Scituate and brother of William above) came also to E. B. with his mother and brother, and m. Molly, D. of Abishai Stetson 1787, and had Polly, who m. Daniel Magoun of P., 1816, and Susanna, who m. Dexter Pratt.

Thomas Pinson, the ancestor of this family, was at Scituate before 1636. His g. g. s. Thomas m. Anne Taylor 1755 at Scituate, and had Elizabeth 1756, William (above) 1757, and Benjamin (above) 1760.

This name is variously written in the early records, Pinson, Pincin, and Pinchin, and the last accords with the uniform pronunciation. It is undoubtedly the same name as Pynchon, and Pinson is probably the original and true spelling". Wm. Pinson . (so spelt) of Wolverhampton Co., of Stafford, Eng., gave a power of attorney to Richard Brown of N. E. 165S. William Pynchon, of Roxbury 1630, went to England 1652, and d. there 1662. Who else of the name could then have had occasion to give this power ? Besides, Brown came over the same year, 1630, and was a ruling Elder and Representative at Watertown. - John Pincin of Chesterfield m. Judith Curtis of Scit. 1788. - Abner Pincin m. B.: he d. 1759; she 17G6. Isaac Pool (father or son) was in the French war 1755 at Nova Scotia. - Hannah Pool m. John Pain 173S.

7. Samuel m. Ruth Fullerton 1759, and lived in E. B., and had Samuel, John, William, Oliver, Olive, and others, ten in all. He went to Easton, where he d. Dec. 1830, she d. Aug. 3, 1835, ae. 97, and had 344 descendants.

POPE. - Ichabod Pope (from Dartmouth, now Fairhaven perhaps) settled in S. B., near the bridge, called after him Pope's Bridge : his w. was a wid. Pope, who had a s. Thomas by her first husband. They had Benjamin, Freeman, Mercy, and perhaps others: he d. 1795. Thomas m. Huldah, D. of Sam'l

Hannah Thayer 1795, and went to Enfield, and had Ichabod, William, Solon, Lavinia, and others perhaps; Lavinia. m. Charles Pratt 1821, - Mercy m. Freeman Pope of New Bedford 1797.

2. Joseph (from N. Bedford) lived awhile in S. B., and went to Ware, and thence to the State of N. York : he had Thankful, (who m. Cornelius Thayer 1796), and others. - Nabby Pope m. Isaac Washburn 1807.

PORTER. - Rev. John Porter (s. of Samuel and Mary of Abington, born 1716, and grandson of John, who m. Deliverance! D. of Nicholas Byram, 1660) gra. IT. U. 1736, and settled in the ministry at N. B. 15th Oct,, 1740, m. Olive Johnson of Canterbury, Conn., and had one D. Olive 1749, and she and her D. both d. the same year : she se. 23. He then m. Mary Huntington of Lebanon, Conn, and had John 1752, Olive 1753, Huntington 1755, Jonathan 1756, Eliphalet 1753, Mary 1762, Sibil 1766 : he d. Mar. 12, 1802, se. 86. John gra. Yale Coll. 1770, was a major in the Revolutionary war, and afterwards went to the West Indies, and there died. - Olive m. John Crafts 1790. - Huntington gra. H. U. 1777, and settled in the ministry at Rye, N. H., and is now living in Roxbury very aged. - Jonathan gra. H. U. 1777, went on board a privateer as a Surgeon and was lost. - Eliphalet, D. D., gra. H. U. 1777, and settled in the ministry at Roxbury, and d. 1833, leaving no children. - Mary m. Rev. Thomas Crafts 1786, minister at Princeton, and afterwards Mid. - Sibil d. single, at Princeton, while on a visit to her sister.

6. John 2d (s. of John of Abington) m. Susanna (or Susa) D. of Ephraim Groves, 1790, settled in E. B., and had Allen Marshall, who m. Betsy Beals 1816.
