June 2016Flash FloodCarlisle$5,000,000Law enforcement reported significant flooding of streets and roads in west and southwest Lubbock - many of which had swiftly flowing water of a foot or more over them. Several playa lakes overflowed their banks and inundated homes, vehicles, and businesses. No injuries were reported, however some motorists required rescuing from water depths as great as five feet deep. Some streets and roads were closed for 18 hours due to standing water.
April 2010Heavy RainWest Carlisle$150,000Heavy rainfall began over much of west Texas during the early morning hours of the 15th. By the time rainfall subsided early on the 17th, a 48-hour record total of 4.02 inches of rain had officially fallen at Lubbock's Preston Smith International Airport, with 5.32 inches at Slaton. The record rainfall contributed to the collapse of a business near the intersection of 13th Street and University Avenue around 12:30 CST on the 16th, when rain water accumulated on the structure's flat-roof. No injuries were reported.
September 2019FloodWest Carlisle$10,000Heavy rain due to thunderstorms caused significant runoff in the city of Lubbock. Minor street flooding was observed near Texas Tech University. The Lubbock Fire Department reported a water rescue in a playa lake near the intersection of 77th street and Interstate 27.

June 2025HailCarlisle-Several Texas Tech University West Texas mesonet sites across the city of Lubbock measured severe wind gusts. A peak wind gust of 71 mph was measured at 1916 CST. A supercell thunderstorm with a history of producing numerous tornadoes ripped through the city of Lubbock causing an enormous amount of damage to homes and businesses across western and southwestern portions of the city of Lubbock. A swath of thunderstorm outflow winds and hail up to tennis ball size swept across the city. An NWS storm survey revealed roof and tree damage maximized along and north of Texas State Highway 114 consistent with maximum winds up to 115 mph. Broken windows, skylights, and additional tree and roof damage was reported as far south as Wolfforth and east into central Lubbock. Most hail reports across the southwestern portion of the city of Lubbock were between half dollar and golf ball size. However, wind gusts between 70 and 80 mph allowed this hail to become wind driven and cause extensive damage.
November 2024Flash FloodCarlisle-A slow moving line of thunderstorms produced heavy rainfall over Lubbock County which caused flash flooding over the city of Lubbock. Numerous reports were received of water over area roadways. Additionally, law enforcement reported a vehicle submerged under water under the overpass of 19th street and Interstate-27.
May 2022HailWest Carlisle-A member of the public sent a picture of quarter size hail at the intersection of Erskine Street and Dover Avenue in Lubbock.
May 2019HailCarlisle-On the heels of the earlier hail, a second hailstorm affected much of the same areas of southern Lubbock, this time with hailstones only to the size of half dollars. Damage estimates from this second hailstorm were impossible to estimate given the earlier damage.
