Every Sanborn volume opens with a printed index
naming the town's mills, tanneries, hotels and works by proprietor. Those
indexes were read off the scanned sheets by machine and then matched to each
other, so a business surveyed four times appears here once, with the years it
survived. 8 of these 35 were named in more than one atlas. Each carries a
crop of the line it was read from: the spelling is the recogniser's and the
1880s lithographer's, and the scan behind it is the proof.

The most serious of them, by death, then
injury, then recorded damage. The accounts are quoted exactly as the
forecast office filed them.
The tornado began in Auglaize County at 1829EST, 3 miles north of Botkins and moved east-southeast, entering Logan County at 1843EST, just north of Santa Fe. Areas of signifincant tree damage occurred along the path of the tornado across northwest Logan County. ||The tornado strengthened as it approached the village of Lakeview, producing severe damage over much of the Lakeview area, beginning along Pine Street and Poplar Court. On Poplar Court, one single family residence was destroyed, with all walls collapsed. A corridor of severe damage continued directly southeast across Main Street, where wall collapse was noted along one business building and another well built construction was destroyed. Another single family home on North Oak Street, just to the east of U.S. Route 33 and west of Indian Lake, also had all walls collapsed from the tornado. The most significant damage occurred along this stretch of Lakeview, with maximum winds estimated to be up to 155 mph, or EF-3. The width of the tornado was a half mile at this point. Three fatalities and 25 injuries occurred in the Lakeview area. ||Damage, primarily of EF-2 magnitude, continued southeast of Lakeview, affecting areas near U.S. Route 33 and State Route 366. The survey team noted roofs removed from single family homes, several outbuildings destroyed and also destruction of numerous manufactured homes. One business near the intersection of U.S. Route 33 and Township Highway 239 had total wall collapse, indicative of 140 mph winds, or low end EF-3 damage. ||The tornado then crossed a portion of Indian Lake and moved across Orchard Island. Numerous manufactured homes were completely destroyed in a mobile home park area at Orchard Island, with the damage on Orchard Island rated as high end EF-2. ||The tornado moved over another section of Indian Lake, producing damage over a community on the eastern side of the lake, affecting Park Drive, Maple Street and Walnut Street. Several homes had their roofs completely removed, although most walls remained standing. ||The tornado continued to move to the southeast, crossing State Route 366 and State Route 117 to the north of Huntsville. The tornado had weakened to EF-1 intensity at this point, with hardwood tree damage and outbuilding damage or destruction noted. Damage became much more sporadic and weaker across eastern Logan County with some minor tree damage noted just southwest of West Mansfield. The tornado is believed to have dissipated near County Road 8, just east of State Route 292.
Four to six inches of rain fell across portions of central and southern Logan County, flooding numerous roads and homes in the Bellefontaine and West Liberty areas. Several county roads and culverts were damaged from the flash flooding.
Major flooding continued in Lakeview as 25 additional families were evacuated. Three-fourths of the town was underwater as rain came to an end late in the evening. The total number of homes affected by the week of flooding in the county were close to 200.
Numerous trees and large branches were downed across the area due to damaging thunderstorm winds. Some of the branches were blocking the Route 33 and 68 exit ramp. Roof damage also occurred to several buildings in the area.
Much of the town of Lakeview, including several businesses and homes, remained underwater. Numerous roads in the Indian Lake vicinity were flooded and closed, including State Routes 274 and 235.
Numerous trees were reported down due to damaging thunderstorm winds. Several barns were also damaged or destroyed along with some minor damage to a few homes.
Several silos on a farm were heavily damaged by the strong winds. An airplane was overturned at a nearby airfield. Fences were blown over and damaged at Indian Lake HIgh School. Numerous trees were downed, including one that fell on a house, causing minor damage. A mobile home was also destroyed.
A tornado briefly touched down just south of the Miami River along County Route 73. A 40- by 60-foot barn was damaged and a mobile home was blown over. Several trees were also downed.
A business sustained roof damage due to thunderstorm winds. Two by fours from the damaged roofing were blown into the roof and garage of a nearby residence. A garage was also shifted about 18 inches off of its foundation. Other damage to residences also occurred several miles to the west of this location near the village of Bloom Center.
The tornado touched down across the extreme eastern part of the county and moved northeast, continuing into Union County. Two semi trailers and a shed roof were damaged.
Flooding is a continuation from earlier flash flooding in the area. Several roads were impassible and evacuations occurred in a trailer park due to the precipitation. Flooding began around 0645 EST on February 28th and continued until around 0900 EST on March 2nd. Damage estimates during March were around twenty-five thousand dollars.

Numerous roads were flooded and closed in western Logan county, including State Route 235 between Lakeview and State Route 708 and State Route 720 between State Route 235 and US Route 33. Several evacuations were necessary along the south shore of Indian Lake between Lakeview and Russells Point.
Two houses had roof damage and siding peeled. A few trailers were tipped over along the north side of Indian Lake. Numerous trees and power lines were also downed.
A power pole was snapped and a tree fell down on a house due to damaging thunderstorm winds.
