p3c3 The burial of Mrs. Henry Pilcher took place Sunday at Oakdale. She was the widow of Rev. Henry Pilcher. a Methodist . She was a resident of North Lewisburg several years.

p5c2 In funeral notice of Mrs. Marie Warner it was stated Mrs. Edward Wirick was one of her children. A relative informs us that she is not a daughter but made her home with the deceased many years.

p6c3 John Robinson, 82 died Friday. He was the largest chattel tax payer in Union County. Services at Unionville at the home. Mitchell Cem. Deceased leaves a widow, two sons and two daughters. Mrs. Isaac Parker, New California, died Friday. Services at Amrine church. Interment at Oakdale. Mrs. Parker was the mother of 13 children, ten of whom, together with the husband, survive. p56c3The infant child of Mr. and Mrs. Claude Staley died Friday of erysipelas. Funeral services were held at the home on North Maple Street. Rev. E. A. King officiating. Oakdale Cemetery.

p7c2 An unfortunate accident occurred Thursday at Woodland in Jackson Township resulting in the death of the fourteen year old son of Jacob Bennett. Mr. Bennett is employed at the Woodland elevator and his two sons, Samuel and Frank aged fourteen and twelve years often accompany him. They were drawn into the chute as wheat was being transferred from one bin to another, and when found, Samuel was dead, and the other was resuscitated after vigorous effort.

pic4 Mrs. Susan Patterson received a telegram announcing the death of her sister, Mrs. Frances Phillips, Carthage, Mo. The funeral will be in Columbus. Interment Green Lawn Cemetery.

p2c2 Noah Trout died near New Dover. He was 90 years 2 months 9 days. Mr. Trout was born in Licking County, Ohio April 16, 1812 and in 1832 moved to Union County where in 1835 he was united in marriage to Margaret Siper , whose death occurred in 1898. To them were born two children, Abe Trout and Mrs. Christina Applegate. Funeral at the home by Rev. T. L. Wiltsee. Interment was made at Mt. Hermon.

P4 A letter from J. B. Doudna of Lees Summit, Mo. to his son C. F. Doudna of Claibourne township tells of a sad death on June 7" in the family of his other son Manassah Doudna who lives in Kansas. the three sons of the latter, John, Louis, and William while fishing sought refuge from a terrible storm in the cabin of a bachelor farm hand. A bolt of lightning struck the house killing William and causing injuries to Louis from which he may never recover.

p6c4 Obit. John Robinson, Jr., son of John Robinson,Sr. and Jane Robinson (Mitchell) was born Dec. 20, 1821 and departed this life June 20, 1902 aged 80 years 6 months and 3 days. Mr. Robinson was united in marriage to Miss Nancy Moor Jan, 8, 1851. To this union were born four children: Preston H., Jennie, Anna Licia and Robert E. Two sons and two daughters and the aged mother who is 86 years old are left to mourn. Having immigrated here from York County, Pa. in

1800, Mr. Robinson's father had received a collegiate education at Cannonsburg, Pa. with the intention of entering the ministry of the United Presbyterian church, but as his health failed him, he abandoned his calling and adopted farming as his life pursuit. His first wife, Elizabeth Fink died a few years after immigrating to Darby and he reunited in marriage with Jane Mitchell. Three children were born to them: Charles M. of Marysville, Eliza J. of Marysville, widow of Wm. Taylor , Sarah Jane, wife of James Woodburn and John of Darby Township, all of whom are dead. Mitchell Cemetery.

W. S. Peacock was found dead on the pike near Unionville. Rev,. T. L. Wiltsee officiated at the funeral. The remains were taken to Bethlehem cemetery at Richwood for interment beside the wife and two children. He was about 45 years of age and was a son of the late Thomas Peacock of this city. He leaves one son Ray Peacock, who is with the army in the Phillipines.

P3c2 After a week's illness with tonsillitis the eighteen year old son of John Ellis in Millcreek Township strangled to death Saturday. Funeral services by Rev. Rogers Monday.

pic2 Jesse C. McCampbell, Jerome Township was the victim of an accident Friday which resulted in his death Monday. He was assisting in putting hay in a mow with a fork. He had charge of the rip rope which suddenly broke, causing him to fall backward from a load of hay.

p1c3 Marie Williams, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Williard Williams died Sunday from tonsillitis which developed into diphtheria. Funeral at the residence East Fourth Street. She was eleven.

p1c3 Mrs. Alexander Burns died in Ottawa, Kansas. Her body was shipped to Milford Center, and brought to the home of her brother Acquilla Turner. Her husband is a brother of Emanuel Burns. Mr. and Mrs. Burns have resided in Kansas about twenty years. Death was caused by consumption. Funeral was at the Amrine church. Interment at Oakdale.

p2c2 Mrs. Frances Phillips(colored), the aged sister of Mrs. Susan Patterson of this city whose death occurred July 1 at Carthage, Missouri, has left an estate valued at over $7000, one-third of which will be shared by Mrs. Patterson.. Mrs. Phillips accumulated this amount during her lifetime by working over the washtub. Mrs. Phillips' body was brought to Columbus for burial.

p5c2 Death came Saturday to Mrs. B. H. Warner of Kenton due to consumption. Mrs. Warner was but 19 years old, and was formerly Miss May Hyland of this vicinity. Funeral services were Monday in Kenton. Interment in Grove cemetery in that city.

p7c2 Death by drowning in an old stone quarry one mile north of Jerome was the sad fate Wednesday of Chester Wilson, the 15 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Wilson of Columbus. Only three weeks ago a brother of Chester lost his life in a similar manner at McCutchsonville in Wyandott County where the family formerly resided. Frank Wilson, the father, is a nephew of S. W.Durboraw of Jerome and Chester had been visiting them. The father was on business for the United States Carriage Company of Columbus.

p2c3 Miss Clara Lemon died Thursday. She was born in Leesburg Township where she received her education and resided with her father, Joseph Lemon until five years ago when they took up residence in Marysville and where Miss Lemon has been engaged as a dressmaker. Her age was 36 years 8 months and 1 day. She was a member of the M. P. church. Funeral under auspices of the Rebecca Lodge, Rev. T. L. Wiltsee officiated. Hopewell Cem.

Mrs. Myrtle Bonnette Firestone died at her home in Shiloh Friday. Her parents, Mrs. and Mrs. Charles Bonnette, were with her. She was twenty-five. In May 1896 she was united in marriage to A. W. Firestone, who at that time was proprietor of the Davis Chair Company. They moved to Cleveland in 1898, thence to Shiloh where he had been engaged in the banking business. Besides her husband, parents, a brother and sister, she leaves a little son Floyd. Funeral service at Shiloh then at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Bonnette on Sunday. Oakdale cem.

Verna LeRoy, the infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Sudduth, living at the corner of Seventh and Walnut streets died Thursday. He was one year and four days old. Rev. T. L. Wiltsie conducted the services at the home. Oakdale p3c2 Troubles never come singly was reinforced last week with Mrs. Jesse McCampbell. Her husband met with a fatal accident on Friday and Saturday her sister, Mrs. Ray Hill died of consumption. Funeral at Jerome Monday. A. L. Rogers officiating.- Plain City Dealer p3c4 William Lemon and daughters, Mrs. Bertha Mead and Miss Lillian Lemon all of Pataskala, and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Amrine of Zanesville were here to attend the funeral of Miss Clara Lemon. William Lemon is an uncle of the deceased and Mrs. Amrine is a sister of Miss Lemon's mother. p5c4 Gorceryman E. A. Perry received word of the death of his aged father Saturday at Westerville as the result of a paralytic stroke. He was eighty five years old. Most of his life was spent in Delaware county. Eight children survive as follows; John, William, and Frank Perry, Mrs. Mollie Huffman and Mrs. Jennie Youl, all of Westerville Robert Perry, of Columbus, George Perry near Delaware, and E. A. Perry of Marysville. Funeral at the home of Mrs. Youl and interment in Worthington. E. A. Perry and son Howard of this city were present at the obsequie.

Darby. p8c2 Mrs. Anna Brodrick, wife of C. W. Brodrick died at her home in Woodstock Thursday with cancer of the bowels. Interment in Spain Cemetery, North Lewisburg.

pic2 Mrs. Anna Wells Graham, wife of G. H. Graham , formerly of this county, died at the home of her son-in-law, Dr. Russell at Arvada. Colorado, July 22. They formerly lived in Liberty Township. Funeral from the residence of her daughter and remains interred in Riverside Cemetery in Denver. She was born in Licking county December 12, 1846 and was married to Gilbert H. Graham at Toledo, lowa March 1866. She leaves a husband and three children.

pic3 William W. Tabern died Saturday. He was born at Raleigh, N. C. December 4, 1857 and four years later settled with his parents in the Cotton Slash neighborhood. In 1881 he was united in marriage to Miss Kate Moss of Richwood, who, with a brother John Tabern of Kenton and two sisters, Mrs. Mercey Johnson at Pine Bluff, Arkansas and Mrs. L. H. Artis of South Bend, Indiana are left to mourn his demise. For eight years Mr. Tabern has conducted a barber shop in the city, and as an illustration of the esteem in which he was held by our citizens, we might site the recent lawn fete for his benefit. Mr. Tabern had begun his work as a porter in the state legislature when illness overtook him. Rev. Clark of the A. M. E. church conducted the funeral. Oakdale p1c4 G. B. Chambers, the well-known and respected colored citizen died this morning at the family residence on Third street of brain trouble from which he has suffered several years. He was born October 16" 1850 at New Market, Maryland and was a slave until the war broke out, when he enlisted with the Union army and drove an ammunition wagon until the close of the war. In 1880, he became a resident of Marysville, and a greater part of the time since then he has conducted a barber shop. He leaves a wife and eight children,. Funeral at the family residence. Milford cemetery.

P5 Contractor A. C. Carr has completed the foundation masonry for Dr. John McCloud 's new residence in Broadway. The new house will be in the neighborhood of $3000 and will be one of the finest in Taylor Township.

p6c3 The illness of Mrs. May McCloud Brown of Toledo terminated in the death Thursday in the Toledo Hospital. Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. S. N. McCloud of this city were present. Death was the result of a surgical operation. Funeral services were at the McCloud home in charge of Rev. J. S. Revennaugh of the Presbyterian Church. Oakdale.

Mrs. Brown was the third daughter of Mr. and Mrs. McCloud and was born in Marysville May 14, 1877. She graduated from High School Class of 1894. August 6, 1901 she was united in marriage to Mr. John Brown of Toledo, a traveling salesman for the wholesale coal firm of W. A. Gosline & Son. p6c3 Mrs. Jane Harriman of Essex, widow of the late Winget Harriman died Thursday from the effects of a stroke of paralysis. Funeral at M. P. church in Essex.

Fred Myers, 9 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Jehu Myers died of lockjaw. July 28 he was playing with a pistol used for firing black cartridges. One exploded, inflicting a powder wound on the second finger of the boy's right hand. Funeral at the home conducted by Rev. C. A. Gleason.. Mt. Hermon cemetery.

p6c2 Book of DANFORTH family history. Nicolas Danforth was the first of the family to leave England in 1836 and ten generations have been born since that time, Thomas and David, of this county, being of the ninth. William McKinley, our late president was one of the descendants of the first Danforth.

p7c2 James Madison Cassil, a former resident of Marysville and son of the late Judge Cassil died at his home in Fort Bend, Texas on June 27. Mr. Cassil was commonly called "Mat" by his old friends in this city. He served during the Civil war in the 13" Ohio and later in Company F. of the 66" Onio which was commanded by his father.

p5c2 The funeral of Miss Jennie McKitrick, who died Friday was held at the home of her mother Mrs. Sarah MckKitrick, north of Ostrander. Services were conducted by Rev. B. R. Hagans of Magnetic Springs and interment at Ostrander.

p5c3 Death at midnight Tuesday relieved the sufferings of John Gamble, Dover Township who has been a sufferer with Bright's disease and paralysis. He was 58 years old and leaves a wife and several children. Mt. Hermon p2/6 c1 Mrs. Martha McMullen, widow of the late Charles McMullen died Wednesday at the state hospital for the insane in Columbus. Bright's disease. She was about sixty. She was a daughter of Ebenezer Hathaway, one of Union County's pioneers who went to California during the gold excitement of 1849 and died of cholera in San Francisco. Of Mrs. McMullen's brothers and sisters the following survive, Mrs. Crawford Reed of Tama, lowa; Mrs. D. W. Henderson of Marysville; Mrs. David Kimball of Woodstock; Elias Hathaway of Union Township and Pearce Hathaway of York township. Mrs. McMullen leaves three children: James McMullen and Anna McMullen of Woodstock, the latter being an invalid and Mrs. Arthur Marsh of Blue Island, Ill. Funeral at the family residence. Milford Cemetery.

p2c2 Frank Weaver died in Marion of smallpox. He had served as a nurse to a smallpox patient. p2c3 Mrs. C. D. Mills received word of the death Thursday by drowning of her sister-in-law, Mrs. J. W. Stewart of Pleasantville, Ohio. With her husband, daughter, and granddaughter, she was rowing on the Licking county reservoir when the boat struck a submerged trunk with such force as to throw Mrs. Stewart out of the boat. Besides her husband, four children survive. The deceased was a sister-in-law of E. E. Stewart, who recently moved form Marysville to Newark.

Marysville last week arranging for Some modern improvements to her building that is occupied by the Kirby Dry Goods store. Miss Lee Annis is recovering nicely from her recent illness.

p8c2 Broadway Mrs. Electa Pooler, relict of James Pooler . Formerly of Broadway who moved a number of years ago to Chicago where Mr. Pooler died, after which Mrs. Pooler moved to Nebraska, and to a government claim of land is here visiting and is the guest of her daughter's family Mrs. T. A. Reading.

p8c3 Ostrander. The father of Ed Hill was buried Friday and Jennie McKitrick's father on Saturday. p8c5 Claibourne The funeral of Abijah Gandy who died Thursday at his home near Pharisburg was held at the M. P. church here. Rev. Walter Cranston of Broadway officiating. Maskill cem.

Archibald married Nancy Mickey 12-21-1797. The McConkey's are descended from this union. p3c1 Edward Finefrock died last week in Richwood. He conducted a harness store in Richwood many years. A widow and one son are left.

p4c1 James Miller died Monday in Mechanicsburg. He was well known as an old time Republican.. Two sons, F. C. Miller and John Miller of this county and one daughter, Mrs. G. Hopkins are left. p5c2 Miss Laura Baldwin accompanied by Willella and Mary Shearer went to the McConkey reunion. Mrs. W. O. Shearer and son went, too.

pic5 Mrs. David Danforth, Liberty Township was called to Toledo to attend the funeral of her aunt, Mrs. Dr. H. A. Tobey. Mrs. Tobey was formerly Miss Minnie Conklin who was at one time a teacher in Marysville public school. Dr. Tobey is a native of York Township.

p2c1 George Hanawalt, Millcreek Township died Thursday as a result of a runaway Monday while he was returning home form Marysville. He remained unconscious from the time of the accident. p2c4 Mrs. Clarence Farnum, a bride of only a few months died at her home near New Dover Friday, death having resulted from a lingering illness with consumption. Her age was 28 years.

Mrs. Farnum was married June 4, 1902 at her home in Columbus to Clarence Farnum a young farmer of Dover Township. She was in poor health at the time of the marriage. Funeral conducted by her former pastor of Columbus at the M. E. church in New Dover. Oakdale

George W. Court, Jr. infant son of Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Court died Friday of marasmus, aged six weeks. Funeral at the family residence in charge of Rev. J. S. Revennaugh. Oakdale p3 We are in receipt of word announcing the death of Oscar Hupp a former Marysville boy who was at one time a partner of A. Morey. The young man died at his home in Cincinnati. Interment at Mechanicsburg.

P3c2 Simeon Anderson received a letter from Ottawa, Kansas stating that his brother-in-law James Guy, a former resident of Dover died last Saturday of dropsy. Mr. Guy left Union County shortly after the Civil War and settled in Kansas where he had conducted a shoe store. He was 74 years old and a frequent visitor to the county. He leaves two daughters, his wife having preceded him two years ago.

p3c4 Dr. and Mrs. J. T. Conrad of Magnetic Springs attended the funeral Friday of the former's father, Frederick Conrad in Waynesfield. Rev. J. B. Hagans of Magnetic Springs was the officiating minister.

p5c3 William Stickney who died recently near West Berlin, Delaware County, was a native of Raymond where he was born September 15, 1849. At the age of 9 he went to Wisconsin, remaining there until 1866, when he came to Delaware County. He leaves two sons, one daughter, one sister Mrs. G. A. Shuster, two brothers, Dr. F. A. Stickney of Eden and Joshua Stickney of Stratford. p7c3Only son of J. A. and Bertha Guy - Albert Chester Guy who was born near Broadway May18, 1900 died August 13, 1902 being 2 years 2 months and 25 days old. He leaves a father and mother, two little sisters, two grandfathers, two grandmothers, a great grandmother.

Louis Edelblute, a young married man residing near Bellepoint died Friday of blood poisoning, the result of a cut received on August 13. He was cutting bands for a threshing outfit and accidentally slit his arm.

p6c1 Arthur Liggett was found dead in bed at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Thomas Pinney Thursday. He was about 57 years of aged and leaves two daughter, Mrs. Pinney of Ostrander and Mrs. D. E. Andrus of Dayton.

p8c1 Broadway. Charles H. Robbins for many years of Union County but late of Dayton, O. died August 26, 1902 and was buried at Broadway cemetery.

p8c2 Chuckery. Ralph, the little six months old son of Mrs. and Mrs. Arthur Hicks died Saturday. Funeral was held at the M. C. Church, Rev. J. B. Stewart officiating. Milford Center cem. Chuckery. Chancey Fife is erecting a house on South Darby Street.

Sepember 10, 1902, Vol54 No 8 p1c2 Amos P. Harvey, father of ex-County Surveyor, L. B. Harvey died September 9 at his home in West Mansfield, of typhoid fever. Funeral at M. E. church in West Mansfield. York cem. He was 72 years 9 months and 15 days of age. Mr. Harvey was born in New England of Scotch parentage November 24, 1829 and removed to Ohio in 1837 with his father who was a Baptist preacher. He began teaching at the age of twenty. In 1855, Mr. Harvey was married to Margaret A. Tuttle of Clark County and in 1859 he purchased a farm in York township where a family of eight sons and one daughter were brought up. All but one of the sons are living. He was an active member of the Bethel M. E. church. During the Civil War, he served in the 185" O. V. | until the close of the war. About four years ago he retired from the farm and took up his residence in West Mansfield.

p5c1 Charles Owen, son of Thomas M. Owen of Woodstock was instantly killed Thursday in Montana where he was employed as a locomotive engineer.

p5c1 The remains of Mrs. Ordway who died at Milford Center Friday was taken to West Liberty for burial. She was about 70 years old and has made ,her home for a number of years with Edward Clark and wife of Milford Center.

p9 A palatial residence will soon grace the Fullington's on Fifth street (across from the court house.) The owner, W. C. Fullington is having plans made by Robinson & Curry. The house will cost in the neighborhood of $10,000 .

pici Mr, Albert Paver committed suicide with a rifle. He was about 35 years of age and a son of John Paver of Allen Township. He married a step-daughter of Michael Davis and has been making his home at the Davis residence. He has been drinking heavily for the last month.

p6c3 James Ford died at his home in Anderson, Ind. Death was caused by consumption. Frank Ford is his brother. The deceased was born in Marysville and was graduated from the local school in 1887. He was the son of John W. Ford who is now a resident of Urbana, Ill. The family removed from here about ten years ago. Six yours ago James was married to Miss Etta Skeen of Urbana, who survives him. The body was taken to Urbana, Ill for interment.

p7 Nathan Chapman died at the Union County Infirmary Thursday. He was a native of Maine and had no relatives in this part of the country, having drifted into Union County as a repairer of clocks. He was 82 years old.

pict Broadway Williard Hildreth, son of Warren Hildreth who was married a few months ago and moved to Mechanicsburg, was brought to Broadway Saturday and buried in Broadway cemetery, Ostrander. James McBride died Saturday. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Burdette at the house.

Byhalia. James Dawson received word that his mother died Friday at her home in Guernsey county. Her death was caused by cancer. She was 87 years old.

The funeral of Jackson Fields was held at the M. E. church Wednesday. He was an old resident of this township. Rev. Baker of Mt. Victory had charge of the services.

p1c2 John Blumenschein of the Settlement has received a letter from his daughter Margaretta, wife of Rev. William Reinecke, late of Corwith, lowa announcing the sudden death of their little babe.. They were moving, Mrs. Reinecke was on a train with the child when it took sick and died before the father could be summoned.

p2c1 The funeral of Jonathan Z Rogers whose death occurred in W. Mansfield was held in Delaware with burial in Oak Grove. Among those in attendance were Mr. and Mrs. Solomon Butz, Mrs. Brose Reed and Mrs. Charles Bonnett, all of this city.

Mr. Rogers was in his 67" year. He was born in Delaware County April 19, 1836 and on April 2, 1857 was married to Miss Blancy Breece who survives him. She is a sister of Mrs. Solomon Butz. They had no children. Mr. Rogers resided in Marysville for some years and established the machine shop which is now operated by Richard Turner. From here he moved to West Mansfield and recently sold his property there and expected to spend his remaining days in Delaware. Funeral services conducted by Rev. E. D. Smith of Delaware. He was a local preacher of the M. E. church. p3c3 David Blue died September 11" at his home in Independence, Kansas. He was a native of Liberty Township and for several years conducted the old St. Clair hotel in Marysville which name was afterward changed to Continental. Mr. Blue was 76 years of age and twice married, his second wife together with three sons Delmer and Forest, both of Kansas, and Nathaniel of New Orleans, surviving him. Mr. Blue was a brother of Josiah and William Blue of this county and an uncle of Louis F. Blue of this city.

p1c4 The funeral of Mrs. George Curl was held Sunday from the residence of Mr. Curl's grandmother, Mrs. George McVey, W. Eighth Street. Oakdale Cem.

Nancy Ann Anderson was born August 21° 1874 in Green county, Ohio. She was the youngest of seven daughters of John H. and Virginia M. Anderson.. She was united in marriage to George E. Curl on the 28" day of August 1893 at her home in Green County to which union were born three children, William Pearl, Rollie, and John, the latter during infancy. She died at her home September 26, 1902 at the age of 28 years 1 month and 3 days. Besides her husband and two children, she leaves a mother, four sisters and one brother to mourn her loss. Her father and two sisters have gone before. Also p 7 c2 p2c1 Mrs. Sarah Lame died on her 69" birthday. Mrs. Lame was born near Watkins being a daughter of Robert Graham. She was married March 4, 1852 to Isaiah Lame. Millcreek Township. Mrs. Lame was the Tribune's active correspondent at Watkins.

p5c3 J. W. Zollinger, the gentleman who was planning in company with McD. Thompson of Milford Center to establish a stove foundry in this city died. He was stricken with typhoid.

p6c3 Blackmore Foote died. He was born September 18, 1837 in Huntsburg, Geauga County and came to Union County in the early sixties. He was married to Ann R. Huff of Allen Township in 1862. The wife and seven children survive him as follows; Frank, of this city; Arthur of Hamilton, O., Albert and Charles of Columbus; Mrs. Lizzie Gibson of Columbus; Mrs. Effie Link of Glenwood, Indiana and Mrs. Anna lles of Indianapolis. Mr. Foote's war service was in Company H. of the 136" OVI. His funeral was under the auspices of Ransom Reed Post, GAR. Services at the family residence on Third Street, Rev. A. E. King officiated. Interment in Buck Run Cemetery in Allen Township.

Elijah K. Fox died Friday at the home of his nephew Eli Fox in Jerome Township. Mr. Fox settled in Union County with his parents Mr. and Mrs. Chester Fox from Hartford County, Connecticut. His paternal grandfather, Amos Fox of English descent, was a Revolutionary soldier under General Washington and participated in the battle of Bunker Hill and was present at the surrender of Burgoyne.

Elijah Fox was born August 10, 1821 which made him 81 years 1 month and 23 days at the time of his death.. He was married January 25, 1849 to Susan Webster, also a native of Connecticut whose parents came to Union County in 1849 and afterwards lived in Ostrander. Mr. and Mrs. Fox were full cousins. They never had any children. The wife died some years ago. The year after he came to Union County he helped cut out and make the road from Jerome to New California. He also assisted his father in clearing 350 acres and lived in the vicinity of Jerome until 1881 when he retired and took up residence in Plain City. A few years ago he went to live with his nephew. He served five terms as trustee of Jerome Township.

p7c2 The remains of John Luther Burris whose death occurred last week in Marion were brought to Marysville and taken to the home of his mother-in-law Mrs. H. D. Dillon. Funeral in Amrine church and burial in Oakdale.

p7c2 John Arthur Roberts of Columbus died Tuesday of spinal meningitis. Green Lawn Cemetery. Mrs. Roberts is the daughter of Charles Arthur of this city.

pic2 John P. Sullivan, whose parents reside at Woodstock died Monday near Kansas City, Mo. ona Santa Fe train while enroute home form Arizona, where he had been for two months for his health. The body was taken from the train at Marceline, near Kansas City and prepared for burial. He was thirty-two years old.

His age was 68 years. He was of a family of nine children only one of whom, Casper Rausch survives. He was the father of thirteen children, seven of whom are living. There are also thirty-nine grandchildren and one great grandchild. Funeral at St. John's. St. John's Cem.

P1c4 James Groves of Jerome Township died Tuesday. He was employed in a sawmill on the farm of John Robinson near Kileville. While resting at noon he dropped over dead. He was 35 and leaves a wife and two children. He had been doctoring for heart trouble for some time.

p5c3 The funeral of Mrs. Margaret Guysinger of Irwin was held in our Lady of Lourdes church Monday with Father Venneman officiating. Interment in Catholic cemetery. She was the wife of James Guysinger . She was 45 and leaves two children.

p7c2 William Donley, who resided with his mother Mrs. Rhodes died Thursday of paralysis. He was about forty years of age. Funeral services at Amrine church in charge of Rev. T. O. Wiltsee. Oakdale cem.

p8c3 Darby. The funeral of Isaac Palmer was at the M. E church at Darby Sunday afternoon. He was the son of Andrew Palmer of Pottersburg and unmarried.

pic3 William C., Malin passed away Monday at his residence on Fourth Street. He was 85 years 6 months and 13 days of age. Mr. Malin (or Melon which was the original name) was born in Urbana township, Champaign County April 7, 1817 and came to Marysville as a harness maker March 19, 1840. Of the people living at the time of Mr. Malin's arrival, only three are left: Mrs. P. B. Cole, Mrs. Catherine Green, and her brother, William Bancroft.

Mr. Malin was twice married, first to Miss Mary Kinney, after her death to Miss Charity A. Irwin. To the first union there were three children, two of them living, Emery F. Malin of Cleveland and Mrs. Mariah Jones of this city. To the second marriage seven children were born, with the following Living: Mrs. John Bostwick, Clinton Malin, Carrie Malin, and Mrs. Maud McCafferty. Funeral at the residence in charge of Rev. O. C. Webster of Kenton assisted by Rev. T. L. Wiltsee.

Mrs. Sarah Jane Winget, relict of William Winget died Saturday at the home of her only daughter, Mrs. William Baldwin near Bridgeport. She was 78 years of age. She was a member of Milford Center Presbyterian church for 61 years. She was a widow 28 years. Funeral at the home of her daughter. Milford Cem. Rev. Chapin of Ostrander Presbyterian church officiated.

The two months old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Davis died Sunday. Funeral at Union church, burial in the church yard. Rev. Bender will officiate.

p6c2 Harry Steward, 40 years old, night telegraph operator for the Pennsylvania Railroad at Plain City was struck by eastbound passenger train No. 8 Friday night and instantly killed while attempting to cross the track in front of the engine. He has one daughter Lelia Francis. She and her children lived with him.

P3 Joseph K. Richey, 91, is having monuments placed over his parents' graves. William Richey was born December 7, 1759 and died August 17, 1847 His wife was born April 15, 1769 and died October 23, 1846.

p7c2 Funeral of William C. Malin. Mr. Malin led an active political career, became a Republican. He served the village as constable, and later was deputy sheriff under William M. Robinson. In 1850 he was elected sheriff and served two terms. For many years he was an auctioneer. For 30 years he took tickets at the county fair.

P8c5 Claibourne. The funeral of Mrs. Mary Grindell was held at the M. P. church Friday. Services were conducted by Rev. Sutton of La Rue assisted by Rev. M. C. Dye and G. W. Moore. The deceased was 63 years old.

p5c5 Captain William B. Brown, Washington D, C, died October 21°'. He was about 80 years old. Captain Brown died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Andrew Sabine in Garden City, Kansas. His body was taken to Washington and interred in Arlington Cemetery. He was born in Yellow Springs but lived in Marysville both before and after the civil war. He has lived a number of years in Washington where he was long connected with the treasury department.

P8c1 Darby Townsend Walker of near North Lewisburg died Tuesday. A post mortem found a bullet imbeded three inches in his liver which he has carried since the Civil War.

p1c3 Mrs. Emeline Kellogg died Saturday at the home of her grandson, County Auditor D. B. Edwards with whom she had been living several months. She would have been 89 years in January. She was a resident of Marysville thirty-seven years. She was born in January 1814 near Chatham, Columbiana County, New York, and when two years of age her parents Mrs. and Mrs. William King moved to Plain City, then known as Pleasant Valley. After the death of Mr. King, the family moved to Licking County and later came to Marysville. Mrs. Kellogg was twice married, her first husband being Oliver Brooks. To this union were born two children, one dying in infancy and the other, Lucinda, becoming the wife of David Edwards. She died in 1883. The mother's second marriage was to Dr. Joseph Kellogg, who died in Marysville in 1876. They had no children. She was a member of the Methodist church. Oakdale Cem pic3 John Parr since 1894 and inmate of the infirmary died Sunday of Bright's disease. His age was 82 years. The remains were taken to LaRue where in his early days Mr. Parr had prospered and became quite wealthy but he afterwards met with reverses. Buried at Fairview cemetery. He leaves two sons, Willis Parr of this city and the other is a resident of Marion County.

pic5 Squire |. N. Wells was born in Hardy County, Virginia December 8, 1816, moved to Ohio with his parents Joseph and Sarah Wells Oct. 1, 1832 together with four brothers and five sisters. One brother survives.

|. N. Wells was married to Olive McMaster Dec. 14, 1841 and to them were born eight children all of whom are living. The father joined the M. E. church in October 1842 and was an active member. He was Justice of the Peace for 17 years in Jerome, moved to Worthington and engaged in business and held the office of Justice of Peace for 13 years and was mayor during that time. The fight for local option was won under his administration.

p3c2 The funeral of Miss Blanche Browning was held at York Wednesday. She was 15 years of age and the daughter of W. D. Browning who died of consumption in this city about eight years ago. After his death his widow and daughter moved to York Township and both developed consumption. The mother's death is expected at any hour.

p3c3 John H. Hush made a trip to Newark to complete arrangements for the erection of a monument over the graves of his father and mother, Peter and Louisa Hush who are buried at Thornville, Licking county. Peter Hush died near Marysville 36 years ago and the demise of Mrs. Hush occurred three years ago in Dover Township. Three of their children are buried at Thornville.

He leaves besides a wife, sister, children as follows: Benjamin Jaggers and Mrs. William Turner of this city; Mrs. M. L. Staley of the Cotton Slash; Mrs. G. A. Miller and Mrs. Lee Stiner of Springfield and Mrs. Harry Dillon of Crestline. Also his aged mother, Mrs. Sarah Carpenter, a brother, Perry Jaggers and sister, Mrs. John Barrick, all of this city. Funeral was held at the residence with Rev. T. L. Wiltsee officiating. The following relatives were present at the service: Mrs. and Mrs. Harry Dillon, Lee Stiner and wife and G. A. Miller and Samuel Anderson and wife of Granville.

p4c1 Jacob Painter a former resident of Union County died at his home in Mound City, Ill. November 7" aged 76 years. Mr. Painter was a member of the 96" O.V.I. and served three years in the Civil War. About twenty-five years ago he sold his farm in Allen Township and moved to Mississippi. Six years ago he disposed of this property in the South and purchased a farm adjoining Mound City. His family consisted of three girls and two boys, his wife having died in Mississippi about twenty years ago.

P5c2 Mrs. H. A. Westlake has received word from her brother, Chambers Powers of Osborne, Kan. That his son George died November 9" of typhoid fever. He leaves a wife and one child.

p5c4 Mrs. Bessie Maris returned Friday from Richwood where she attended the funeral of her grandson, Wilbur Burgoon, who was also a grandson of Postmaster Shannon Burgoon, of Richwood. p8c3 Jerome. The funeral of Mrs. Hobart was at the M. E. church Sunday. Her death was caused by malarial fever combined with paralysis.

pic6 Mrs. Mary Davis Hawley died Monday at the home of her daughter Mrs. Carl Johnson near Milford Center. Her age was 83 years. Mrs. Hawley was born in Knox County, but for 68 years was a resident of this vicinity. The following children survive; D. Hawley Mrs. Carl Johnson and Mrs. George Parthemore. Funeral at M. p2 The death of Mrs. Clint Malin occurred Friday at North Lewisburg. She was the daughter of Mrs. Henry Walke of Woodstock where she resided until the time of her marriage. She was 38 years of age. Besides the husband, she leaves one daughter, aged 13 years. Funeral at Universalist church at Woodsotck where interment took place. Mr. Malin's sister, Mrs. Maria Jones and Miss Carrie Malin of this city and also Mrs. Jones' daughter Katherine were in attendance. Also p5c2 p4 A sad message announcing a fatal accident to Howard Laird was received Monday by his father Isaac Laird. The son was employed as a brakeman for the Big Four railroad. His foot caught in a freight car and he was dragged to his death.. Funeral at the Laird home. Oakdale Cem. The deceased was unmarried. Besides his father, his near relatives consist of four brothers and two sisters. John H. Laird was his uncle.

p5c2 Mrs. James K. Abraham, who was born and raised in the Bluescreek neighborhood died Monday in Bellefontaine. They moved to the latter place about twenty-five years ago.

p5c4 The infant child of Mrs. and Mrs. Charles Laird of Milford Center died Thursday. Oakdale Cem. The father is a brother of Howard Laird who was killed Monday evening. Also 12-3-1902 m3c1 p7c2 Martin Ruperight died Friday night at the home farm on Weaver road. He was 48 on November 9. He was a son of Gottleib and Catherine Ruperight both deceased of whose children the following survive: John and Conrad and Mrs. Dora Arnold all or Van Wert, and Philip Ruperight, Mrs. Louis Weidman and Mrs.Mary Neutzel of this vicinity.

p7c3 Mrs. Francis Fuller Victor, oldest daughter of the late Mrs. Lucy Fuller of Marysville, and sister of Mrs. John Van Pearse, died November 13" in Portland Oregon, aged 76 years. She was born in Rome, New York and afterward moved to Ohio with her parents. she was a well-known author of historical and poetical works. Her husband, Henry C. Victor died in 1875, having perished on a steam vessel which foundered off the northwestern Pacific coast.

pici1 Beverly Depp, one of the richest colored citizens of Union County shot himself. The funeral was at his late residence in Jerome Township. The deceased's sister, Mrs. Lucy Moss, his niece Mrs. Fleming and grandson Earl Allen, all of Marysville were in attendance.

pic4 The body of Franklin B. Justice was brought Monday from his daughter's home near North Greenfield, Logan County and interred at Oakdale.

p3c3 Albert Arlo, the seven year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Brose Reed died Friday of diphtheria paralysis. He had recovered from diphtheria two months ago. His sister Helen died nine years ago, Funeral at the home of his parents. Rev. T. L. Wiltsee officiated.

p4c2 John Coder died Tuesday of Bright's disease and dropsy. He was 75 years of age on the 30" of last October. He was born in Ross County, Ohio and came to Marysville in 1833. In 1847 Mr. Coder was united in marriage to Miss Catherine Staley and to their union four children were born, one dying in infancy. The wife and following children survive: Jennie, Frank, and Otis.

Funeral services from the family home on Walnut Street. Rev. T. L. Wiltsee will officiate and burial will be conducted by the Masonic fraternity.

p5c2 Mildred, the infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Spain, South Chestnut Street died Sunday. Oakdale, Rev. D. A. Johnson officiated. The child's age was three months and four days.

p5c2 Roy Somerlot, the 17 year old son of Mrs. and Mrs. William Somerlot, who live near Woodland, accidentally shot himself while hunting with a companion.

p6c1 Victor Herbert Bell was born on a farm near Middleburg, Logan County, August 8, 1875, His life was spent on the farm until he came with his brother Howard to Marysville 3 years ago to engage in the real estate business. There were four children in his father's family, Howard, Homer, Victor and Florence. In one year and six weeks three of the family, father, mother and Victor have crossed to the other shore. Victor was graduated from the High school of Middleburg in a class of seven in 1895. He became a member of the M. E. church when 10 or 12. He died of diabetes. Funeral at this brother's home H. E. Bell, in charge of Rev. J. S. Revennaugh. Interment at Middleburg.

P6c1 Robert Gibson was born in Madison County New Year's Day 1818 and was the eldest son of Steven Gibson. When he was only two he came with his parents to Union County and settled on a farm east of Marysville . About fifteen years ago Mr. Gibson quit farming and took up residence in Marysville, living a retired life. Mr. Gibson was twice married, first to Eliza Warner in 1848 to which union nine children were born of which the following survive, Albert of Sandusky, Frank M. of this city, Alonzo of Columbus; Henry of Marion and Mrs. Estelle Marlin of Philadelphia. The mother died January 7, 1891. A few years later Mr. Gibson was married to Mrs. Mary Amrine who survives him. Two sisters are Mrs. Mary Ingman of Toledo and Mrs. Sarah Snodgrass of this city. Funeral service were conducted by Rev. T. L. Wiltsee at the home. Oakdale Cem.

p6c2 Franklin B. Justice died at the home of his daughter Mrs. Vinton Weatherby. His demise was caused by paralysis of the brain, brought on by Bright's disease. Oakdale. He was born in Washington County, Pennsylvania and early in life was married to Orlinda Ginegar of Hagerstown, Maryland. They later moved to Mechanicsburg, and afterwards to Marysville where the wife died about twelve years ago. Several years later, Mr. Justice gave up working as carriage painter and has spent the last three or four year mostly in New Carlisle with his sister. Of his four children, two survive, Mrs. Weatherby and Will F. Justice, a merchant of Plain City. The father's age was 70 years 8 months and twelve days.

December 10, 1902 Vol 54 No 21 p1c3 Fred Diehl, youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. William Diehl, an apprentice in the United States Navy, died of pneumonia. He enlisted about two months ago.

Calvin M. Figley died Monday of typhoid pneumonia. He was 54 years of age and leaves a widow, one son and one daughter. He was engaged in the livery business in Marysville. About a year ago p1c3 William Wingfield of New Dover died Monday of Bright's Disease. He was 66 years old and a veteran of the Civil War, having served over three years in the volunteer army. Mr. Wingfield was born in Clark County, O. After returning from the war he married Catherine Gooble and they moved to Union County. Funeral at the residence, interment at Mt. Hermon.

p3c3 Mrs. Carrie Rockfield, wife of William Rockfield, died Thursday age 26 years. She was a daughter of Officer Frank D. Gosnell of the Columbus police force, also a niece of ex-county Clerk J. N. Gosnell. The body was placed in a vault at Oakdale. Also p 9 c3 p4c2 Samuel Godfrey Smith, son of Sallie G. & Charles Smith was born Nov. 3d 1818 in Fayette County, Penn. and died Dec. 3d, 1902 at his home near Somersville in Union County. When he was six years old his parents moved with their family to Harrison County, Ohio where they resided 11 years. On the 12" of January 1835, Charles Smith with his wife and family arrived in York township, Union County. It was in the midst of winter. A temporary dwelling was erected consisting of a shed with three sides, the fourth being a log fire. In the simmer, a double log cabin was built. In those days grain was marketed in Columbus and flour and other provisions were brought from there, walking by a team to keep warm.

Ibn 1846 Samuel Smith was united in marriage to Elizabeth J. Herd of Newton, to this union were born four children, only one of whom still lives. In 1853 the wife and mother was taken from the home and with his children he returned to his father's home. In 1856, he was again united in marriage to Phila Rna Ford who lived until two years ago. To them were born six children, three of whom are living. In 1876 he moved to York Township and there he died. He was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church as his ancestors had been.

p4c2 Stephen Cranston died at his home in North Lewisburg December 4" and was buried at Lewisburg, the funeral conducted by Revs. Elliott and Newcome.

P4c2 Ethel Kearnes, daughter of John & Julia Kearns, 22 years, 6 months, 13 days died December 6 caused by heart trouble and diphtheria. Funeral at the home conducted by P. Cranston. interment in Broadway cemetery.

p9c5 Mrs. Sarah Jane Winget passed from earth to rest beyond at the home of her daughter Mrs. William Baldwin October 18, 1902. She was the daughter of James and Anna Reed and was born November 24, 1825. She had reached the age of 76 years 10 months and 24 days. She was united in marriage to William Winget July 9, 1857 who preceded her to the grave 28 years. This union was blessed with three children, one son and two daughters. She leaves to mourn her one daughter, three grandchildren, one brother and three sisters. She united with the Presbyterian Church at Milford at about 18 years. Funeral was conducted by her pastor, Rev. Chapin.

Anna E. Sullivan was born at Dublin, Franklin county February 28, 1880 and died at Peoria November 15, 1902, age 22 years 8 months 17 days. She was married to Otto D. Sterling January 27, 1900. To them was born one son who is left at the age of 11 months without a mother's loving care. She leaves a husband and little son, an aged father and mother, five brothers and four sisters. Funeral services at U. B. church in Peoria. Rev. Barns officiating. Oakdale Cem.

Blanche T. Beck was born June 7, 1832 in Clark Co. Va. In early youth she came to Union County. She is a member of the M. E. church at Hermon. On October 18, 1858 she was married to Lewis Filler, who died May 2, 1898. On November 27, 1902 she passed into rest leaving two daughters. Funeral at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Lora B. Spees with interment at Mt. Hermon.

Jane A. Hobart. Jane A., daughter of Chester and Emily Poole was born in Otto, New York November 7, 1838 and died November 13, 1902 aged 64 years and 6 days. She moved with her sister to Ohio when she was about 13 years old. On June 6, 1857, she was united in marriage to A. J. Hobart. Three children were born to bless this union of which only one daughter remains. She lived on the farm 1 1/2 miles west of Jerome until Mr. Hobart's death which occurred five years ago last March. Two grandsons, three brothers and two sisters survive her. The funeral was at her home, her Pastor Rickett assisted by Rev. A. Rogers officiating.

pic1 Mrs. Jacob Scheiderer died Monday at her home in Darby township. The deceased was fortyfour years of age and a native of Missouri. She leaves a husband, three daughters and one son. Funeral at St. Paul's, Chuckery and interment was made in the new cemetery recently purchased by St. Paul's congregation, adjoining Mitchell cemetery.

p2c2 The funeral of Mrs. Amanda M. F. Lockwood was held at the home of her adopted daughter, Mrs. Joseph Turner. Rev. T. L. Wiltsee will officiate. Oakdale Cemetery. Bright's disease.

She was born February 1, 1840 in Clinton County and after the Civil War removed to Mechanicsburg and later to Raymond. Her first marriage was to Rev. Samuel R. Wood, whose death occurred in 1873. She was afterward married to |. O. Lockwood, who died in this city a few years ago. There are no children. She was a member of the M. E. church and in later years became certified with the Woman's Relief Corps of this city,.

P2c1 Carl Walter Braun was born April 7", 1894, died Wednesday. He was 8 years 8 months and 2 days. One brother Willis, two sisters, Christine and Helen are left. It is only a year and a half ago that Alma, a three-year -old daughter was taken from this family. Funeral service at the house conducted by Rev. Abicht in both German and English.

p2c2, p5c3 Frank Zell Hartshorn of Broadway was born near Broadway April 30" 1868, died December 10, 1902 aged 34 years 7 months and 10 days. He died of typhoid fever. Funeral in Broadway Baptist church under the auspices of the 1.0.0.F. order. Broadway Cemetery.

p3c3 The body of Fred Diehl arrived by express Friday from the Newport Naval training school where his death occurred Tuesday. The funeral was in charge of Rev. T. L. Wiltsee.

P8c1Raymond. Mrs. Roy Phelps of Columbus came to attend the funeral of her uncle, Frank Hartshorn at Broadway and visited her parents, Mrs. And Mrs. A. H. Lyon.

pici John Hawley died December 14 at the residence of his son, Byron F. Hawley near Woodstock, Champaign County. He was in his 88" year. Mr. Hawley was born in Osnaburg, Stark County, Ohio August 25", 1815 and removed with his parents to Union County about 1827. He helped to clear the ground to build the old court house that stood on the corner where the Oakland hotel now stands. Mr. Hawley was twice married. In 1840, he was united in marriage to Zilpha Maynard and three daughters were born to them, Mrs. Belle Davis, Miss Delia Hawley and Mrs. Rose Bergen, the latter dying in 1871. His second marriage occurred in 1853 to Miss Malinda Warner Fulton and two children were born to this union, Mr. Byron F. Hawley and Mrs. Dora Fay. The mother passed on but eight months ago, and the four children, eight grandchildren and seven great-grand-children still survive. Mr. Hawley was of Scotch-Irish parentage and of strict Presbyterian faith. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. James DeShayes at the home. Milford Cem.

p7c4Homer/Hames Woodburn, brother of Hon. R. L. Woodburn was born October 26. 1853 in Jerome Township in the house in which he died. On February 28, 1887 Mr. Woodburn was married to Miss Margaret McCarty, who with eight children, survive him. Funeral at the home with burial at New California.

pic2 Mrs. Elizabeth Hilderbrand, relict of Eli Hilderbrand died Sunday at the home of her daughter Mrs. Lawrence Sager of Maple Street. Dropsy. She was 62 years 6 months 11 days. She was born June 17, 1840 and married in 1856 to Garrison Newlove. To this union three chidren were born, two of whom, Manillious Newlove and Mrs. Sager live to mourn.

After the death of Mr. Newlove, the widow was again married December 18, 1887 to Eli Hilderbrand, whose demise occurred in 1895. She had been a member of the M. E. church since childhood. Funeral at the Sager home with Rev. E. A. King of the Congregational Church officiating. Oakdale. pic4 The four months old son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Scheiderer died Monday. Cause of death is unknown. p3 Calvin M. Figley, son of Jonas and Mary Figley was born near York Center, May 13", 1848 and died at his home in York Township December 8th 1902 aged 54 years six months and twenty-five days. He was married to Angeline B. Southard January 16", 1872. To this union was born two children, one son and one daughter. He leaves a wife, one son, one daughter and six sisters. He was a member of Knights of Pythias and Masonic orders.

p1L.B. Demorest was present Sunday at the funeral of his brother Milton Demorest, who was manager of the warehouse and elevator at Morgan Station. The brother's death occurred on Friday from an aggravated affliction of the bladder. He was 57 years of age and leaves a wife and four children. The funeral and burial took place at Galloway where the deceased formerly resided.

p3c1 Mrs. Elizabeth Turner Ingman, the mother of Mrs. A. J. Hare and step-mother of postmaster C. M. Ingman passed away New Year's Day. The deceased was the relict of W. R. Ingman, whose death occurred in 1874 while he was serving as superintendent of the county infirmary. The wife was born November 30, 1821 in Clark County, Ohio and when married in 1852 moved to London, where the family resided until 1857 when they moved to Marysville. Mr. Ingman, after taking up residence here was engaged in the blacksmithing business with John Coder and others.

The children of Mrs. Ingman are Mrs. Lydia Smith of Columbus, and Otho W. Ingman of Mechanicsburg; the step children are James Ingman of Kansas, Francis Ingman and C. M. Ingman, both of this city. She was a member of the Methodist church. She was 81 years 1 month 1 day and the last and oldest of a family of seven. T. L. Wiltsee officiated. Oakdale p8c1 Broadway. Darby. p8c3 Elizabeth Zeimer Waddle was born July 20, 1819 in Pickaway County and died Dec. 31, 1902 aged 83 years 5 months and 11 days. She emigrated from Fairfield County

April 4, 1845 and was married to Samuel Waddle August 21, 1852 and settled on the farm where she died in the year 1862. She united with the United Brethren church on Darby forty years ago. She leaves a husband, two daughters, three grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Funeral at the family residence conducted by Rev. Welch of Belle Center, Ohio with interment at Spain's cemetery.

p1c4 Frank Smart received a telegram Monday from New York City announcing the sudden death of Mr. Geo. F. Boenau on Sunday. The deceased was an employee of the New York Central railroad. He was the husband of Miss Mittie Hawkins, formerly of this city, the latter being a niece of Mr. Smart.

Elisha Wells, late of Raymond died January 4" in Western Branch hospital at National Military Home, Leavenworth, Kansas. He was a veteran of the Civil War, having served in Company D. 136" O.V.1.. He was 83 years of age.

p5c3 Mrs. George Hill, whose funeral occurred last Friday at Peoria had been a resident of Union County for fifty-four years. She was born in Ashland County, Ohio and soon after her marriage to Mr. Hill moved to Peoria. They lived fifty-two years together, Mr. Hill's death occurring about two years ago. The wife lived to be 72 years 2 months and 25 days of age. Of the ten children, six are living, and there are twenty-three grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

William Griffin, age 16, son of Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Griffin died Friday in Delaware of smallpox, being the sixth victim of this dreaded disease in that city.

Accompanying the remains were the widow, Mrs. Mittie Boenau, her daughter Miss Jean Royce and Julius Boenau, a brother of the deceased, all of New York City. Spinal meningitis.

p6c3 Joseph W. Lawrence who died Wednesday was a native of Marysville. During the civil war he enlisted in the Union Light Guard which was organized in December 1863 by Governor Tod and sent to Washington as a body guard to President Lincoln. A few years after the war, Mr. Lawrence served as a guard at the penitentiary. Upon his return home he was appointed bailiff of the common pleas court and served under several different sheriffs. He was several times elected assessor of the precinct in which he lived.

He was 66 years of age. He leaves a wife and four children as follows: Mrs. Rose Conover of Milwaukee, Wirt W. January 28, 1903 pic1 Dr. John E. Wood died Saturday. He was thirty years of age and the only son of Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Wood. He leaves one sister, Mrs. Carrie Hornbeck of New York. He was a graduate of the Marysville school and Starling Medical College of Columbus. Funeral under the auspices of the Knight of Pythias . Rev. T. L. Wiltsee of the Methodist church will officiate.

p2c1 George Beecher went to Outville, Licking County Wednesday to be present at the funeral of Zacharias Hunt whose wife is a relative of Mrs. Beecher. Mr. Hunt met his death in a tragic manner Monday evening while endeavoring to save the life and honor of Miss Mary Stothard, a neighbor's daughter who was being assaulted by Elmer Artz a degenerate farm hand. He was shot and killed. Mr. Hunt was 56 years of age and leaves a wife and one daughter.

P2c3 The funeral of John Mulcahy, Sr., late of York Township was held Tuesday at Our Lady of Lourdes church with burial in St. John's Catholic cemetery. He was 76 years of age. He was a native of Lumerick, Ireland, coming from the neighborhood in which Oliver Goldsmith was born. In July 1850, Mr. Mulcahy immigrated to the United States and after a year's residence in New York, came to Madison County, Ohio where he engaged in farming in the vicinity of Rosedale. He was married to Margaret Maher who died in 1870. Of their seven children, the following survive: Margaret and John who live on the home farm, Nora, a teacher in Madison County and Thomas Mulcahy, a rising young lawyer of Napoleon, Ohio. The father was a resident of York Township 28 years.

p4ci A letter from W. T. Colver of Amo, Colorado announced the death of his sister, Miss Abi Colver at the home of W. T. Colver's daughter, Mrs. R. M. Cline of Larned, Kansas. Deceased was sixtytwo years of age. She formerly resided at N. Lewisburg and was also well known in the vicinity of Raymond. She was a daughter of Russell Colver...also a cousin of Mrs. W. G. February 4, 1903 Vol 54 No 29 Mrs. Rolla M. Howard died Friday at Park View Sanatorium in Columbus which is operated by Doctors Rodebaugh, late of this city. The deceased was 50 years and 22 days of age. She leaves a husband and one son Dana Howard, also two daughters by a former marriage, to wit Mrs. Watt Howland of this city and Mrs. Minnie Wandell of Toledo. Mrs. Howard was the youngest child of the late Philip Snider. Her mother is still living also two brothers Adam and Charles Snider and one sister, Mrs. Frank Smart of this city. The funeral was held at the home conducted by Rev. E. A. King of the Congregational church in which Mrs. Howard had been an earnest worker. The deceased was a native of England and came to Delaware County with her husband about thirty-three years ago and soon after settling on a farm in Union County. Mr. Parrott survives his wife, together with the following children: Charles, Jr. and William Parrott, Mrs. John Lowe, Mrs. George Rittenhouse, Mrs. E. J. Myers. Mrs. W. Mary Bown was born October 17, 1828 in Frome, Somersetshire, England, died January 31, 1903 aged 74 years 3 months and 14 days. February 7", 1853 she was united in marriage with Charles Parrott to which union were born nine children, two sons and seven daughters. She leaves her aged husband, two sons and six daughters, one daughter having preceded her to the better land; 28 grandchildren. She was a member of the Church.

p2c3 Sarah Jane Millvaine Elliott was born in Coschocton, Ohio, Aug. 19", 1840 and departed this life January 2"° 1902, aged 62 years 4 months and 3 days. She was married to Wm. Elliott September 30", 1860. To this union was born seven sons and five daughters, eleven of which have grown to manhood and womanhood who with the husband ant thirteen grandchildren are left. p3c5 Martha J. Low was born in Millcreek Township, Union County, Ohio July 7, 1868, was married to Nelson Herd February 21, 1898. Died at her home west of Raymond January 30, 1903 leaving a husband, a little son and infant daughter, three brothers and two sisters. She joined the Watkins Christian church in winter of 1889-90. Caris, vault at Oakdale p4c1 Mrs. Mary Gibson, widow of the late Robert Gibson whose death occurred last Thanksgiving Day, died last night at the home on Cherry street. She would have been 80 years this month.

Mrs. Gibson was the daughter of Samuel Staley. She was first married to Andrew Amrine, who died and in 1893 she was united in marriage to Robert Gibson. The father was 84 years 10 months and 6 days when he died. Mrs. Gibson leaves two daughters by her first marriage, Mrs. Frank M. Gibson and Mrs. Serepta Reed. The deceased was born in Union Township, Union County September 21, 1831. His parents William and Nancy McDonald Howard were natives of 'Windham, Connecticut who had come to Union County in 1830 and were married the same year. William Howard died June 10, 1839 and his widow February 15, 1873. They were the parents of three children- Nathan, who had just died, Harriet L., deceased and William.

When Mrs. Howard was left a widow with three children she had in her possession a farm of 500 acres, all wild land, and 200 acres were not yet paid for. She conducted the farm successfully until her children were grown. Nathan was reared on the farm and received the rudiment of his education in the common schools which were none too good. When of age, he was given the business of the farm which he managed until 1858 when the farm was divided between him and his brother William, Harriet L. having died a short time before.

September 21, 1859 Nathan Howard was married to Helen M. Hathaway, a sister of Elias Hathaway and of Mrs. D.W. Henderson. They took up their abode in a log cabin on this farm, afterward building a frame home and in 1876 the fine brick residence which now graces the Howard lands. Mr. Howard continued to add to his possession until at one time he had more than two thousand acres. He engaged extensively in breeding French and Clydesdale horses, fancy sheep and thoroughbred cattle. For many years he was a prominent officer of the County Agricultural Society. As a Republican, he was seven times elected assessor of Allen Township and in 1880 he was elected to the board of county commissioners.

Mrs. Howard died in 1892. Of their four children the following survive; Charles M., Cone, and Otto M. Funeral at the Howard home conducted by Rev. C. M. Hagans of Mt. Sterling. Interment at Milford Center. p7 Jacob H. Smith, Sr. a resident of Marysville more than forty years died Tuesday at the home of his son John T. Smith. Mr. Smith was born January 28, 1823 in Ross County. His wife was burned to death eight years ago. Four of their children survive: John T., William, Mrs. Mary Louck and Jacob H., Jr. Mr. Smith was a pensioner of the Civil War, having enlisted in Company A. of the 66" OVI when forty-five years of age. He served in the same company with his son John T. Funeral services at the Smith home, Fourth street in charge of Rev. C. A. Gleason. Interment at Oakdale. p8c2 New Dover. Dorothy Margaret, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. M. L. Howey was born Sept. 10, 1902 and died Feb. 6, 1903 of consumption. Funeral was conducted by W. H. Smith, Burial at Ostrander.

pp2c2 Dr. W. H. Andrews, Dover Township died Thursday. He was close to 80 years. he leaves a wife and several children. His demise was caused by diabetes and lagrip. Also p 12, c2 p4c1 The infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Edwards of New Dover died Thursday of pneumonia. Their three-year-old son afflicted with the same ailment, is reported better.

p9c3 News of the death of Mrs. Thornhill, wife of H on. French. has been received by friends. Mrs. Thornhill died in Los Angeles. Her age was about sixty years.

p12c1 Pharisburg. The people of the vicinity have kindly contributed for the burial expense of old Uncle Israel Jordan, who was held in high esteem.

Byhalia. The funeral of Mrs. Dickerson of Findlay was held at the M. E. church last Monday. She was 85 years old and had been a member of the Methodist church for 67 years. Rev. Hartford had charge of the services.

p12c5 Obit. Dr. W. H. Andrews was born in Fairfield County February 20, 1829, died February 19, 1903 aged 73 years 11 months 23 days. He moved to Watkins, Ohio, in 1858 where he engaged in the practice of medicine, being a graduate of a medical college at Cincinnati. November 13, 1860 Dr. Andrews was married to Miss Minerva N. Bean. To this union were born Lorin M., Hattie E., Neely R. and Lizzie, The two oldest preceded the father to the better land. In 1875 he moved to the farm where he resided at the time of his death. he united with the Christian church of Watkins about the year 1867 and was an earnest worker as long as he resided there. He leaves a wife and two children.

p4c3 Anne Clarinda Sharp was born in Genoa Township Delaware County March 30, 1851 and died February 13", 1903 age of 51 years 10 months and 23 days, She was the daughter of Stephen and Hester Anna Sharp and was united in marriage to William A. Hall January 1, 1880. To this union were born Howard, Franklin, Clinton, and Grover. Clinton died in infancy. She leaves a husband, three sons, one sister and four brothers. She was baptized at the age of 12. In Union County she united with the M. P. church of Pharisburg. She was educated in the public schools and Otterbein University at Westerville, O. Two sons are members of the Public High School, Franklin, a member of the Senior class, and Grover, a member of the junior class.

p5c2 The 14 months old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Schalip, Jr. Oak Street, died Sabbath morning of pneumonia. Funeral services at Trinity Lutheran church with Rev. F. W. Abict officiating. Mrs. William L. Miller has been notified of the death of her father Dr. Thomas W. Forshee at the home of his daughter in Champaign, ILL. His age was 78 years 3 months.

Peter V. Finch of Richwood who was known as the oldest Kinight of Pythias in the state is dead. He was the father of Mrs. Joseph W. Cartmell of this city.

New California p 8 c4. Vera Dalee, infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thurman Clevinger died February 15"" aged one month and twenty-five days. Funeral at U. P. church conducted by Rev. Roger of Plain City.

p1c5 New Dover. Mrs. Lillie Griffith Lombart of White Sulphur, formerly of New Dover, died Sunday morning of pneumonia, age 24 years 9 months 2 days. She leaves a husband and three small children. She was the eldest daughter of the late Webster Griffith of this place. Funeral was held at the U. B. church at Ostrander conducted by Rev. Burdette. Burial at Ostrander.

p7c4 William Grauman, Jr., a carpenter employed by Sharrer & Sons, met sudden death Monday by falling headlong to the ground from a roof of a building on which he was making repairs. Mr. Grauman was 47 and leaves a wife and six small children. Recently he joined the Maccabee insurance order which will provide $1000 insurance for the widow. He also carried a small amount of accident insurance, which will possibly yield $300. Funeral at the home. Rev. E. A. King of the Congregational church will officiate. Oakdale p7c6 George Lusch died Tuesday from blood poison in Marion. He was forty-six and leaves five children, including three grown daughters. His wife died three years ago.

Mr. Lusch was a native of Marysville. He was a brother of Mrs. Victor J. Payne who with her husband and son will attend the funeral in Marion. William Auer, a brother-in-law and Mrs. Sebastian Imhoof, an aunt will also attend the funeral.

p 11 c2 Obit. Amanda Griffin, wife of Dr. George O. McCune was born near Coolville, O. April 147. 1843 and died at Unionville, O. Feb. 18" 1902, age 89 years 10 months and 4 days. She was the mother of two children. One, Myrtle A. died in infancy, the other Minnie A. Gross, wife of J. C. Gross still lives. She joined the M. E. church when about 15 years of age. Funeral at the M. E. church at Unionville conducted by Rev. Jas. F. Steele, interment at Milford Center.

Mary Blake was born in Liberty Township February 17, 1827, died at her home in Peoria, January 3, 1903, age 75 years 10 months and 17 days. She was married to Stephen Shirk August 10, 1848. To them were born 12 children, five of whom are gone before her. All the living children were present except one son and one daughter. She united with the Christian church in 1849. She leaves a husband, two sons and five daughters, twenty-two grandchildren and three great grandchildren, one brother and one sister. Funeral services were held at the Union Christian church near Peoria. Sermon by Rev. C. A. Williams, assisted by Rev. S. A. Carris and Rev. Mrs. Morris of the Friend's church.

Susannah Baker was born in Ashland County October 12" 1830 and died at her home near Peoria January 7, 1903 aged 72 years 2 months and 25 days. She was married to George J. Hill March 19", 1849. Her husband died January 24, 1901. She had been a member of the Methodist church at Raymond for many years. This union was blessed with 10 children, 5 sons and 5 daughters, four children having preceded her to the grave. She leaves 6 children three sons and three daughters, 24 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Funeral at the U. B. church at Peoria, Rev. Barn officiating. Oakdale

Jane Elizabeth Atherton was born in Licking County Aug. 26", 1833. At the age of 21 she was married to Peter Vanatta. To this union were born 7 children, 3 of whom died in infancy and the father's death occurred June 12, 1879. On October 1881, the deceased was married to Jesse S. Vanatta, who died Mary 18", 1898. In 1882, she met with an accident which resulted in the loss of her eyesight, living in darkness for 20 years.

She united with the Lutheran church in Licking County about 44 years ago, and after coming to this county united by letter with the Asbury church. Her death occurred February 10", 1903 caused by a paralytic stroke. She was 69 years 5 months and 15 days. She leaves one son, three daughters, twenty grandchildren.

Thomas Turner was born in Union County May 6, 1840 making his age 62 years 9 months and 20 days, He was the son of John & Leah Turner. To this union were born twelve children, three daughters and nine sons of which father, mother, sisters and seven brothers have preceded him in death. The only one now living is Harrison Turner. He was united in marriage to Mary Mills January 1, 1872. To this union were born three children, Asa, William, and Sophia Turner. He leaves a wife, two sons, one daughter, two daughters-in-law, one grandchild, one brother.

Friends of T. J. Cherrington, a former citizen of who is now a resident of Dallas, Oregon are informed of the death February 21 of his wife who was formerly Miss Anne Eloise Bowser of Argyle, Wisconsin. Before her marriage to Mr. Cherrington a few years ago, she was a teacher in the schools of Lane County, Oregon. Her age was 28 years 10 months and 27 days. March 18, 1903 pic4 Scott County (Kansas) News Letter--Tells of the death, March 4, of George Starr, Sr., a former resident of Marysville. He was a brother-in-law of our fellow townsman J. C. Nicol, having married the latter's sister.

Mr. Starr was born in Bavaria, Germany November 12, 1820 and came to Columbus, Ohio in 1844, afterward marrying and settling on a farm in Darby Township. In 1867, he moved to Keokuk County, lowa where he owned and operated one of the best farms in the county. In 1894, he sold his possession in lowa and moved with his aged wife to Scott City, Kansas. The widow and ten children survive him, one of the sons, J. C. Starr, being editor of the Scott County New Letter.

p6c4 Elizabeth Schwartzkoph, widow of Jacob Schwartzkoph died Friday at the family residence in the German Settlement. Her age was 80 years. She leaves four children as follows: Mrs. John S. Kleiber, Mrs. John Kendall, John and George Schwartzkopf, Funeral at St. John's Lutheran church in charge of Rev. H. C. Kuechle.

Margaret A., daughter of John & Lucinda Guy was born in Scioto Township, Delaware County, Ohio October 9" 1844 and died March 4" 1903 at her home in Ostrander, aged 58 years 4 months and 25 days. She was married to James Rittenhouse November 2d 1865. To his union six children were born three of whom have died. Mr. Rittenhouse died January 30th 1887. She was a member of the Springdale Baptist church at its organization November 6" 1868. She later united with the Ostrander Baptist church. She leaves two sons and one daughter and four brothers.

p6c4 Mrs. Almira L. Wall died at the home of her son, Dr. Arthur H. Wall of Kansa City, Mo. Friday March 13. Almira Louisa Johnson was born December 17, 1828 on the shore of Lake Chautauqua. Her father was an itinerate Methodist minister and removed to Harrison County, O. when his daughter was two years old. When she was eight years old they removed to Union Co. where she made her home till nine years ago when she removed to Kansas City and made her home with her son Dr. A. H. Wall. She was a member of the Methodist church. At the age of fourteen she took up teaching and taught for several years in Tennessee.

December 27, 1854 she was married to James H. Wall.. For a while she was a teacher in the grammar department at Portsmouth, O. while her husband was principle of the High School at the time when the Rev. E. E. White was superintendent of Portsmouth public schools.

She was member of the Woman's Relief Corps No 1-2 auxiliary to Ransom Reed's Post No 112, Marysville. Mrs. Wall has been a widow for three years, she leaves four children Mrs. Anna B. Davis, F. T. Wall and Dr. A. H. Wall of Kansas City and Mrs. Luella M. Young of Colony, Kansas.

p8c4 Mrs. Smith Alexander, Michael P. Wood, Mrs. William Stillings and the latter's husband left Tuesday for Dunkirk, Ohio to be in attendance Wednesday at the funeral of their brother, Joseph E. Wood whose death occurred Monday The deceased was a former resident of Union County but for 25 years he has lived in Hardin County. He leaves a wife and several children.

F. M. Taylor Thursday sold several draft horses to John Lemon of Portsmouth who made a car load shipment to Boston from Milford Center Friday. Mr. Taylor also sold Friday to Henry Snyder of Millersburg a car load of draft horses.

p2c3 Will H. Smith died Wednesday. Sarcoma of the kidneys. He was 42. He was born in Galion but since his sixteenth year he has been a resident of Marysville. Mr. Smith was united in marriage to Miss Lena Gunderman whose death occurred February 1, 1902. They are survived by three chidlren as follows; Edwin, aged 17, Alice, aged 14 and Robert aged 10. He has been cared for at the home of his brother-in-law Louis Linzenmeier where funeral services were held under auspices of Marysville Lodge Knight of Pythias. Rev. J; S. Revennaugh conducted the religious ceremony. Oakdale. He leaves an aged mother and the following brothers and sisters: Henry Smith and Mrs. Fred J. Auer of Marysville, Mrs. Elizabeth Lanius of Loraine and Riney and Fred Smith of Galion. P4c3 Mrs. Martha Amrine died Friday at the home of her son Alfred Amrine. Her age was 82 years 11 months and 13 days. She was born April 14, 1820 near London, Madison County being a daughter of William and Amelia Evans Irven. April 26, 1842 she was married to Henry Amrine and they settled on 100 acres west of Marysville which Mr. Amrine's father had given him. They became possessors of 700 acres. They were supporters of the church. Their two children, Alfred Amrine of Paris Township and Mrs. H. H. Whelpley of Washington C. H. survive. Funeral at Amrine church. Rev. W. P. Bender officiated. Oakdale p7c3 Chas. Lewis, a former resident of Marysville and brother of Mrs. Matilda Stewart of this place died at his home at Marion, Indiana, Thursday. The deceased took a dose of carbolic with suicidic intent. He was about 35.

p11 The bank of the late F. M. Maugans at Ostrander has been incorporated under the laws of Ohio with a capital of $250,000 by B. C. Duncan, J. C. Maugans, A. V. Main. C. V. Liggett, and Octa B. Maugans. The institution will be known as the Ostrander Banking Company. Octa B. Maugans, daughter of F. M. Maugans, and Attorney W. A. Hall of Delaware have been appointed administrators of the deceased banker's estate. They have given bond in the sum of $100,000.

April 8, 1903 Vol 54 No 38 pic3 Joseph A. Keller, ex-sommissioner of Logan County and former postmaster of West Mansfield died Monday at the home of his daughter Mrs. Lanson B. Harvey.. Born and raised in Bokescreek Township Logan County he lived there all his life. Then 18 years old, he married Miss Nancy Munsel whose death occurred about one year ago. Eight children survive: Frank Knowlton, Edwin Hartley,and Clarence E, of Eastern Kansas, Mrs. T. M. Wallace of Mt. Victory, Mrs. L. B. Harvey of Marysville, Mrs. Charles Harvey and Mrs. Elson Webb both of West Mansfield. Mr. Keller served in the 13" Ohio Battery of Artillery. Funeral services at West Mansfield conducted by Rev. C. H. Hoffman. Greenlawn cemetery south of West Mansfield.

p2c3 Mrs. Belle Wirick of Logan County, wife of Edward Wirick, a Logan County farmer who survives together with two children. Typhoid fever. Funeral at Middleburg. For many years she made her home with Mrs. Maria Warner of Marysville and was bequeathed most of Mrs. Warner's estate.

April 15, 1903 p2c2 Death removed three pioneer residents of West Mansfiled and vicinity last week. They were Mrs. W. H. Plotner aged 70 years, Joseph Keller, age 75 and Henry Hathaway, aged 65.

p4c3 Levin Griffin was born in Maryland, Carlile County December 27, 1809 died April 8, 1903 aged 94 years 3 months and 7 days. At the age of four years he came with his parents to Ross County where he resided twenty-two years. In 1831 he came to Union County and in 1832 he was married to Emily Hand and lived with her twenty-two years. To this union eight children were born, two of whom are still living, a son and a daughter. His wife died in 1891. He has been blind about eighteen years. He was a member of the Christian church. Bertha S. Goff died April 2, 1903 at the home of her parents Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Goff. She was 21 years 9 months and 23 days of age, the youngest of eight, two of whom preceded her to the grave. She was an active member of the Free Baptist church of Broadway. She was also a member of the Rebecca order of Odd Fellowship. Broadway cemetery.

p2c4 Mrs. Sarah E. Wise, mother of Mrs. Hylas Wood died Thursday at her home on New California road. She was 90 years of age and was one of twin sisters, the other of whom, Mrs. Susan Younkman of Stark County is still living. Mrs. Wise leaves six children as follows: Frank and Samuel Wise, Mrs. Jasper Hobert, Mrs. George Benson, Mrs. Susan Sensil and Mrs. Hylas Wood. Funeral at New California church.

p5c2 John R. Taylor received a message announcing the death of her sister Mrs. Euphana Conley of Valparaiso, Indiana. The deceased was formerly a resident of Dover Township.

p5c3 Mrs. John E. Griffith, formerly of Marysville died today in a hospital at El Paso, Texas. Her husband Hon. John E. Griffith announces the burial will take place at Radnor, Delaware County, Ohio. Since leaving Marysville, Mr. Griffith and family have resided at Socorrok, New Mexico which has been his headquarters as clerk of the United States Districk court.

Sarah E. Wise was the daughter of Susannah and Nicholas Lieghley. She was a twin sister of Nancy F. Younkman of Stark County, still living. She was born September 9, 1813 and died April 16, 1903, age 89 years 7 months and 7 days. She was married to Anthony Wise in 1830. She was the mother of twelve children, six sons and six daughters. Four daughters and three sons are still living, as follows; Susan Sensil, Katharine Wood, Sarah Benson, Zellah Hobart, David, Samuel and Frank Wise. There were twenty-five grandchildren, thirteen grandchildren. After marriage they lived in Stark County until 1845 when they came to Union County and where they lived until they were called by death. She was a member of the M. E. church p8c6 Pottersburg, Mrs. Nancy Holycross, wife of Henry Holycross died Thursday and their infant Monday. Both died of lung fever and were buried in the same grave.

p8c2 Pharisburg.. The remains of P. Hoskins, about 19 years of age was buried in the Hopewell cemetery Saturday. He was the son of H. C. Hoskins and wife, deceased, who formerly lived at Magnetic Springs. He had been in employ of the Standard Oil Co. and died at the home of his brother in Indiana.

W. Tilton and family, Mrs. Albert Gray, Mayor C. S. Hamilton and Ed A. Mullen p1c2 Cyrus Baughn died Sunday of heart trouble at Raymond. He leaves a wife and one son, and many relatives and friends. He was a brother-in-law of James Shirk of this city. His wife's maiden name was Sarah J. Shirk. Funeral at Millcreek Disciple church Tuesday.

Pic5 Mary Amrine, daughter of Wesley & Elizabeth Amrine was born near Marysville July 20, 1840 and died at her home on Grove street May 3d, 1903, being 62 years 9 months and 13 days old. She was educated in this city and in 1861 was united in marriage to E. B. McCord . To this union two children were born, Ira Barton who died in infancy and Harry B. of this city.

Having been legally separated in 1868 at San Francisco, Calif. she again returned to Ohio where in 1870 she was married to Isaac Staley. To this union three children were born, Claude C., Lester, both of Marysville and Mrs. Katherine E. Phillips of Springifeld. The husband, four children, eleven grandchildren, four stepsons, and four brothers are left. She had united with Amrine M. E. church. p1c6 Josiah Blue died Tuesday. He was 80 years and had been a resident of Paris Towhship since he was nine. He was twice married. He leaves a widow and eight children, among whom are Louis F. Blue and David Blue. He also leaves one brother, William Blue. Palestine Lodge F. & A. M. will take charge of the burial. Oakdale p2c2 The funeral of Mrs. Emeline Maugans who died Thursday at her home near Ostrander was held in the latter village. She was the wife of Daniel Maugans who survives, also the step-mother of A. Maugans and sister-in-law of Mrs. Mary Rosette both of this city.

p4c2 Rowland Atherton, son of Elbert and Minnie Crawford was born June 1, 1902 and died April 25, 1903 aged 1 year 10 months and 23 days. He leaves father, mother, little sister, two grandfathers, two grandmothers, two great grandfathers and one great grandmother.

p6c1 George W. Arnold, Taylor Township, died Wednesday of heart trouble. He was about 76 years old and had resided many years on his farm two miles east of Broadway. A widow and several married children survive him.

pi1c3 Mrs. Josie Evans Hornbeck, wife of Frank M. Hornbeck, clerk of York Township, died Monday morning after an illness of several weeks. Funeral at McKendree church.

p1c6 Daniel Boyd, farmer and stock-buyer of Madison County died Monday south of Plain City. He was 76 years of age. He was the father of John S. Boyd of Marysville who recently purchased and is operating the Cottage hotel. There are also two other sons, Dwight S. Boyd of Columbus and Charles N. Boyd who lived with his parents. The mother also survives. The father was elected to the State legislature from Madison County in 1886 and filled that honorable position for two terms. He has been a dealer in live stock. p2c2 Captain Theodore Mullen has been informed ot the death April 25 of his uncle Michael Mullen who was a resident of Elmwood, Nebraska. The deceased was once a citizen of Marysville but left for the west fifty years ago. He leaves a widow, his third wife and three sons, Joseph, Isaac, and Elwin, all of whom were born in Marysville. The father's age was 82 years 3 months and 13 days p4c2 Daisy Marie Shirk daughter of Charles and Retta Shirk died May3rd, 1903.
