The most extensive tornado damage occurred north of Road 82 along road 151 where several structures were impacted. An unanchored home was slid 18 feet off its foundation into the west side of a barn.
June 2003Flash FloodPaulding$150,000A narrow band of thunderstorms continuously regenerated over Paulding county during the morning with emergency reporting flash flooding continuing into the afternoon. Numerous roads were closed with some completely washed out. The most serious flooding was around Blue Creek where more than two dozen homes had water into the first floor and some were evacuated. Sandbagging was needed in and around Blue Creek.

The damage started near the intersection of county highway C-105 and U.S. 24. Two mobile homes that were attached together, were flipped over, destroying it. As the wind continued east a pole barn next to the mobile home was destroyed. Along U.S. 24, several trees were uprooted in two separate residences. Two homes suffered roof damage as well. The damage ended just across the Maumee River where several large broken tree limbs were found along the river bank. The combined damage is estimated at $100,000.

Structure damage was also reported in Antwerp as well as northeast of Paulding. Damage is estimated around $100,000. Surveys from local emergency and NWS officials found evidence of the formation of gustnadoes where concentrated areas of damage were observed.

April 2025Tornado (EF2)Mandale-A second tornado spun up north of the decaying Van Wert tornado, touching down in far southeast Paulding County. The tornado severely damaged a pole barn as it moved into Putnam county. The tornado rapidly moved northeast, hitting a well anchored mobile homed and flipping it 60 feet away. Three occupants were in the mobile home and two of them sustained minor injuries. It is here that the tornado peaked at an EF-2 with an estimated wind speed of 120 mph. The tornado destroyed another well-anchored 60x120 ft pole barn, throwing its debris onto the bank of the Auglaize River. To the northeast, it directly hit the town of Dupont where it did widespread EF-0 to EF-1 damage throughout. The tornado damaged several large corn silos (one that was full of corn had the ground anchor bolts break from uplift). It is near here where the visible damage stopped.
June 2022Thunderstorm WindPayne-Damaging winds, ranging between 60 to locally over 80 mph, caused damage from Payne, OH through Latty and south of Melrose. The most extensive damage appears to have occurred from Payne to Latty where tree damage, minor structure damage and damage to power poles occurred. Tree limbs also fell onto parked vehicles, causing damage. A resident shared a picture on the Paulding County EMA Facebook page, south of Latty showing a home weather station recorded an 83 mph wind gust.

Haviland Tile, Inc. had a number of their storage piles of PVC Drainage tile blown over. A semi tractor-trailer was blown over. As far as damage to the residents in the village, was minimal. Small sheds, trees and tree limbs came down, as well as isolated utility lines down. Wind gust to 65 mph were estimated with the wet microburst.

May 2017Thunderstorm WindTipton-A survey of damage near Haviland revealed an intense microburst impacted farmland in the area of State Route 114 between Roads 79 and 87. Several swaths of damage occurred with wind speeds in the 80 to 85 mph range. The southernmost swath impacted a 70 foot by 140 foot pole barn, destroying it and carrying debris up to 2 miles to the southeast. A lack of strong anchoring (which is typical for this region) contributed to the destruction and subsequent lowered wind speeds (SBO-8). A grain elevator system collapsed partially. No other structure damage was noted to several other buildings on the property. To the immediate east of the microburst impact and also towards the northeast numerous power poles were snapped in groups of 15 to 20, along Road 107. Recent wet ground, older wood and harmonics of the poles and wires moving. A farm near the intersection of Road 107 and SR 114 suffered no damage to any buildings. Wind speeds are estimated between 80 and 85 mph. The line noted in this entry is the estimated center point of the swath of damage.
