The Post Exchange (P.E.) Lumber Storage building is an example of a "temporary" building constructed by the Army during World War II. Description: It is a small one-by-two story structure with a projecting vestibule. The gable roof is covered with asphalt shingles, the exterior with wood drop siding, a form of tongue-and-groove boards laid horizontally, and the foundation is cement. The building retains many of its original finishes: drop siding, six- over-six wood sash, and doors with a four-pane light over three horizontal panels. History: The building was erected in although its "P" designation implies that it was a permanent building constructed before World War II.

The anomaly is explained by the fact that the Lumber Storage Building was construct- ed on the foundation of an earlier building, a searchlight truck shelter built in and was destroyed in the hurricane. The building was used as a post engineers lumber storage during the war and at least until it is still used for storage.
