This building was part of the improvements to the Lawrence Machine Shop yard by Everett Cotton Mills. It was constructed in When the mill was built, Everett Mills was the world's largest cotton mill. Everett Mills figured prominently in Lawrence's Bread & Roses Labor Strike. Description: This is a one story 800 square foot building that houses a very large insulation-clad fan housing and fan. The exterior bearing walls and floor are brick. The window frames are original, but the windows are not. The roof is wood planks on timber beams. There are some iron columns as well. It is connected to the basement of Building 4 by a tunnel. The roof of the tunnel is wood-planks on timber beams and the tunnel contains a brick duct that runs from Building 4 to Building 4A.

History: Building 4A was built about and is called a heater house or fan room. It was originally part of the cotton mills complex owned by Everett Mills and part of the improvements made to the Lawrence Machine Shop yard. Bolta Company bought it years later, around as part of its plastics manufacturing facility. General Tire & Rubber Co. then bought Bolta in and made it part of its plastics division and also manufactured vinyl. General Tire changed its name in and became GenCorp Inc.
