This building was part of the Lawrence Machine Shop yard owned by the city's founding corporation, Essex Company. It was constructed in one year after the Lawrence Machine Shop was built. In it was bought by Everett Mills which was the world's largest cotton mill. Everett Mills figured prominently in Lawrence's Bread & Roses Labor Strike. Description: Building 8 is a three story square foot building. The roof consists of wood planks and joists supported by wood purlins and rafters. The floors consist of wood planks supported on timber beams. The third floor is supported from the roof by hanger rods. The second floor is also supported from the roof by hanger rods and from below the steel columns. Walls are granite block and the ground floor is concrete.

An overhead walkway exists between Building 3A and Building 8 on the east side. Exterior northeast corner cornice and gable-end stonework are enclosed in Building interior. History: This structure dates back to Its usage over the years has been primarily for storage and also years later for saran blending. It was originally part of the Lawrence Machine Shop complex built by the city's founding corporation, Essex Company, that manufactured tools, water turbines, textile and other machinery. Beginning in it was owned by Everett Mills Corp. and part of a large cotton mills complex. The remaining owners were Bolta Company and General Tire & Rubber Co., later named GenCorp Inc., which used it in their vinyl manufacturing businesses.
