This house is a representative, intact example of an early post-Civil War house type that was once prevalent in the city. It survives with its original siding and decorative details largely intact and, except for its altered front porch and deteriorated condition, has a relatively high degree of integrity. Description: The house is a long narrow building that is part of a closely spaced cluster of late century houses within the proposed Champion Historic District. The house has a low rubble stone foundation and a basically rectangular ground plan. It is of balloon frame construction and has exterior walls that are covered with original drop siding.

Windows have been boarded over, but are symmetrically arranged on the exterior and probably have one-over-one or two-over-two wood sash intact behind the wood panels. This narrow house is only two bays wide and is a full two stories in height. It has a full-width front porch with low-pitched hipped roof, although the porch posts and railing are of an extremely simple design that suggests they have been fairly recently changed. While the main doorway is along one side, the presence of a nearby side wall window suggests that this is not a Side Hallway house type, as it does not seem to have a stairway along the lateral wall. Instead, the front door probably opens into a single large room. A low- pitched hipped roof with broad overhanging eaves caps the building.

Pairs of decorative brackets accent the front and sides of the building. To the rear is a one-story gabled wing with a comer porch that seems to have been recently enclosed. There is a center brick chimney. History: This building was probably constructed in the judging from its styling and materials. In it was home to Henry C. and Mary Aldridge. He was employed as a laborer, probably at a nearby factory. By it had other occupants, Karl and Augusta Stephens. He was an assistant foreman. From it was home to Edward and Mary Dundon. He worked as a laborer. From it was home to Charles and Harriet Lowry. He was a machinist. It has had a series of short-term occupants over the years, until when the house became vacant.

The building stands within the proposed Champion Historic District, which has been determined eligible by the Ohio State Historic Preservation Officer for listing on the National Register of Historic Places.
