The house represents the early nineteenth-century domestic architecture of the Beacon Hill neighborhood of Boston. It was designed by Ephraim Marsh in and associated historically with both William Eliot and Francis C. Lowell. Materials: Field measurements for No. 56 Beacon Street include the main entrance and some other exterior details. The measurements and drawings were done by W.E. Goodrich, but are not dated. Most likely they were done in 1 Massachusetts Cultural Resource Information System (MAORIS), Inventory No. BOS.
