This rowhouse was designed by Charles Bulffoch for Jonathan Mason in making it one of the earliest buildings in the Beacon Hill neighborhood. Today the building is a house museum dedicated to the interpretation of life at the end of the nineteenth century as well as to telling the story of the life of Rose Standish Nichols ( Nichols was an author and pacifist, and helped establish the Women's International League for Peace and Freedom in She also was a landscape gardener. 1 Materials: There are field measurements for No. 55 Mount Vernon Street. 1 Massachusetts Cultural Resource Information System (MACRIS), Inventory No. BOS.13604.
