The architectural design for this house is generally attributed to Charles Bulfinch, and its construction date of makes it one of the earliest structures erected in the Beacon Hill neighborhood of Boston. Other architects connected to this building are Cornelius Coolidge, William Stanley Parker, and Parker & Sturgis Associates. The Beacon Hill Friends purchased the property in the mid-twentieth century and continue to use the house today. The historic name, Charles Paine House, comes from the records of the Massachusetts Historical Commission. At the time of the survey, the field team referred to the building as the "Greene House" perhaps acknowledging the then occupant-owner. Materials: There are field measurements for No.
