Notes accompanying the field measurements for the Oakley Country Club House state that "35 acres ofland on Strwberry [sic] Hill bought by John Vila from William Stratton in bought by Harrison Gray Otis in in built the house and called it Oakley. Late [sic] sold the estate to William Pratt, he and his family occupied it for many years untill {sic] his daughter died. He then sold the estate in to the Oakley Country Club, the oldest golf club ... "The notes continue, observing that in a farm house was on the site according to town records.

The club house was made of wood, painted chrome yellow with ivory white trim, black gutters and chimney caps, and had asphalt shingles on the roof 1 Materials: There are field notes for the Oakley Country Club House that were completed by Henry Judson Welsh, with help from Frank [Choteau] Brown. Welsh was from Medford, and lived on Cotting Street at the time. He did not, however, date his work. 1 Henry Judson Welsh made these notes to accompany his field measurements and field drawings.
