Typical early nineteenth century Nantucket house; part of the India Street Neighborhood Study (MASS-1013). PART I. HISTORICAL INFORMATION A. Physical History: 1. Original and subsequent owners: Zaccheus Hussey bought land from Reuben Starbuck for "land which I purchased from Nathaniel Chadwick, Administrator of Estate of Francis Baxter, deceased, containing 23% rods and bounded easterly by Timothy Horsefield; northerly by a lane called Hussey's Court; southerly by Pearl Street; westerly by land of John Howland Swain." Lydia Hussey, widow of Zaccheus, for and during her life and after that to daughter Anna Hussey, by deed from children to grandchildren of Zaccheus Hussey.

Historical Events Connected with the Structure: Known as the Homestead of Zaccheus Hussey who was 49 years of age when he built the house. He died in at the age of 79 and his children and grandchildren lived in the house for many years.

By land in this section was beginning to be more valuable for Zaccheus Macy paid for it without a house. By Civil War times the house and land was sold for only This property is located in that area originally described as the Third Squadron of Wesco Acre Lots at a place commonly known by the name of Micah's Pond. India Street in the early was largely occupied by the wealthier families, many of whom derived much profit from the East India trade as well as from whaling.
