Heavy rain over the headwaters of the Tuscarwas River were averaged 7.65 for from June 11 through the 17th, with 3 to 5 inches falling on the 16th and 17th. The Tuscarawas River basin average rainfall for June 11 through June 17th was 7.58 with 3 to 5 falling during the 16th and 17th. As a result of concurrent major flooding on the tributary Chippewa Creek and the headwaters of the Tuscarawas River resulted in a flood near the 0.2 percent or 500 year flood level at the confluence in Canal Fulton and Clinton. Downstream of Canal Fulton the Tuscarawas River reached a near 1 percent recurrence flood, or 100 year event in the City of Massillon.|The Chippewa Creek, a headwater to the Tuscwarawa River in Medina and Wayne Counties, came out of its banks on the 16th. The additional rain on the 17th cause the river to overtop the gage, with a height estimated at 10.53 feet around 10 am on the 17th. The USGS field crew was able to estimate flows exceeding 1450 cfs, making it the most significant flood since the gage was installed in 2001. Rainfall estimates for the watershed were 7.34 between the June 11th and 17th, with 3 to 5 inches falling on the 16th and 17th. The Chippewa Creek confluence with the Tuscarawas River occurs in Rittman in Wayne County. Rittman sustained significant damages from the flooded Chippewa Creek.||In Clinton the flood waters at the confluence of the Chippewa Creek and Tuscarawas River produced between a 1 and a 0.2 percent flood levels, also known respectively as a 100 and 500 year flood plain. The majority of the impacts occurred along Main Street and North Street west of Donnenwirth Street with two to three feet deep on part of Main Street and six to eight feet deep on North Street. Most of the floodplain was part of the Erie Canal park system and trails, but at least 5 homes were surrounded and partially inundated by flood waters. Two businesses on Main Street did have an estimated 2 feet of water on the first floor, one of which was an auto repair shop with about 20 vehicles inundated with up to 3 feet of water. 25 people have been forced out of their homes or businesses. Flood levels were the worst since the flood of 1913, exceeding the floods of 1969 and 1977. Luna Lake levels rose by almost 4 feet in the month of June, resulting in widespread flooding of over a dozen homes and cabins along the lakeshore during the week of the 18th resulting the worst flooding since 1978. |

Flash flooding occurred in portions of the county during the evening hours. 3.91 inches of rain fell in Chippewa Lake during with around 3.5 inches in the City of Medina. Over two inches of rain was measured between 6 and 7 p.m. in Medina. The flooding was most severe in Medina, Montville and Granger Townships. In Montville Township, the west branch of the Rocky River left it's bank and flooded several homes along River Styx Road. The river rose nine feet above normal causing a basement wall in the one of the houses to collapse. Several people were evacuated from homes nearby. At 9:05 p.m. a small child was washed into a flooded ditch in Granger Township. Rescue workers arrived quickly and were able to save the child. Extensive lowland and street flooding occurred in Medina with several roads damaged by the flood waters. Many homes were damaged by flooding in the city with areas along Smith Road affected the most. A total of 37 homes and 110 apartment units sustained major flood damage in the county. An additional 73 homes and two apartments sustained minor damage. Many businesses were also affected. Damage to public property, roads and recreational areas topped $1 million. At least seven motorists were rescued from stranded cars during the storm. |
| May 2004 | Flash Flood | Countywide | $4,200,000 | Thunderstorms dumped torrential rains on Medina County during the early morning hours of May 21st resulting in the worst flooding seen in the county since 1969. The northern portion of the county including the Brunswick area was especially hard hit. Heavy rain fell between 2 and 5 a.m. and caused several small streams to leave their banks. Rainfall rates were between one and two inches per hour with storm totals of up to three inches measured by spotters in both Brunswick and Hinckley. Bucket surveys indicate that as much as 4 to 5 inches of rain may have fallen in some areas. This rainfall combined with ground already saturated from heavy rains the previous few days led to widespread flooding. Over 120 homes sustained significant damage from flooding in Brunswick. Residents of several of these homes had to be evacuated around 5 a.m. Dozens of roads had to be closed in the northern portion of the county with water on some Brunswick streets as much as two and a half feet deep. Many automobiles became trapped in the flood waters. Rainfall totals of two to three inches were also reported near Chippewa Lake where extensive flooding occurred at Gloria Glens Park. Approximately 25 people had to be evacuated from Gloria Glens Village. Flood waters were up to two feet deep on the ground floors of some of the homes in the village. Widespread street flooding was also reported in Medina where at least three automobiles became stranded. Hundreds of homes elsewhere across Medina County experienced basement flooding. |

The rainfall intensity caused rapid runoff and widespread flash flooding in the western and central parts of the county. In North Royalton the Cambridge Village properties were flooded. There was water reported over the Akins Road Bridge and dozens of roads and intersections were flooded from overflowing creeks. Flowing water removed pavement from main and side streets in North Royalton, Strongsville, Medina, and Brunswick Hills. State Route 162, between the Interstate 71 overpass and River Styx Road in Montville Township, sustained major damage when a large culvert under the roadway was damaged. A fire truck sustained major damage when driving over a water covered and washout road in Medina along the River Styx. In Brunswick Hills 4.5 of rain was measured during the storms. Almost three feet of water flooded the Police Station. Small portions of State Route 303 and 252 damaged. |The East Branch of the Rocky River, along with other tributaries to the Rocky River, were primarily responsible for the majority of the damage. The Plum Creek came out of its banks inundating an off-ramp from I-71 onto Ohio SR 3. Two water rescues were conducted at this site. The River Styx Overall a dozen water rescues were conducted in western and central Medina County that evening, and an estimated 100-200 homes sustained water damage. A dozen homes were substantially damaged on the first floor in Granger Road area in Medina. |
| November 2017 | Thunderstorm Wind | Valley City | $1,100,000 | A thunderstorm downbust with winds estimated to be as much as 85 mph caused extensive damage across the northern end of Medina County. The damage began west of Valley City along the county line and continued east across the Brunswick and Hinckley areas. The damage was most concentrated in Liverpool township where there was significant tree and power pole damage. Hundreds of trees were also downed in Brunswick and Hinckley. Many homes lost roofing or siding and a few were damaged by fallen trees. In Brunswick alone, there were 300 reports of damage with four homes sustaining structural damage and a fifth destroyed from a complete roof collapse caused by a fallen tree. There was also damage across Medina and Granger Townships but it wasn't as widespread. Many roads, including county and state routes were blocked by fallen trees and power lines. Several school districts in the county were closed on November 6th because of power outages. At the peak of the storm over 10,000 people were without power in Median County. It took a couple of days for power to be fully restored. |

Two homes were destroyed, 16 others suffered major damage and 40 homes suffered minor damage. Of the two homes that were destroyed, one was cut in half by a falling tree and the other was blown off its foundation. Another 200 homes received minimal damage from such things as broken windows and damaged rain gutters. Baseball and softball dugouts at a local ball field were also destroyed. Hundreds of trees were reported down in the southeastern portion of the county. Approximately 10 vehicles were damaged or destroyed by falling trees and at least 30 houses were struck by falling trees. A semi truck was blown over on Interstate 76 approximately 5 miles west of Wadsworth. Siding on a house in Lafayette Township was torn off. Dozens of trees were downed in Wadsworth with 20 down at one house alone. A boat was damaged by a fallen tree and a large restaurant sign was also blown down. Several homes in the Wadsworth area suffered roof damage from fallen trees and winds there were estimated at 60 to 80 mph. |

The tornado then traveled northeast for approximately 7.5 miles before dissipating along State Route 83 about three miles north of Chatham. The damage path was intermittent and approximately 250 feet in width. A new home was completely destroyed near the location of the initial touchdown. A truck nearby was thrown 500 feet by the tornado. A church and parsonage were damaged along Old Mill Road. The tornado then struck an alpaca farm along State Route 83 north of Chatham and destroyed three barns and damaged several other outbuildings. Several garages and a home were damaged elsewhere along the damage path. Over three hundred trees were knocked down and two cars destroyed. |

The storm traveled northeast for 1.7 miles crossing State Route 303 and ended near Clover Drive and Carpenter Road. It is estimated at least forty five homes and businesses were affected by the tornado. Two homes sustained major damage near oak tree drive and royal oak drive. The path was intermittent with a combination of EF0 and EF1 Damage. It is estimated that the most significant damage was created from winds of 110 mph. |

Dozens of roads and streets once again became flooded and had to be closed. Several more cars became stranded in the flood waters. Damage to roads and other government property from the storms on the 21st and 22nd was nearly $500,000. Dozens of homes, businesses and vehicles sustained flood damage. |

The tornado then traveled northeast through Homerville and finally dissipated about a mile and a half northeast of the town. The first significant damage in the county occurred along Williams Road where a newer two story home lost it's roof and most of the second floor. Several other homes and buildings in this area sustained minor damage. In Homerville, an auto repair shop was destroyed and several homes sustained moderate to minor damage. A barn was destroyed just southwest of town. Many cars were damaged and dozens of trees downed. The tornado was on the ground in Medina County for approximately four miles and had a damage path no more than 50 yards in width. |

Most of the damage occurred along a path approximately one mile south of the highway. Several trees were downed in Seville. A private airport located two miles west of Wadsworth was severely damaged. Six airplanes at the airport were destroyed with an additional 15 planes damaged. Four homes adjacent to the airport were damaged and two nearby barns were destroyed. A shed on the airport property was also blown down. A motor home also sustained major damage. Many trees and power poles were blown down in Wadsworth. Several corn fields along the damage path were flattened. Estimates on the crop damage will not be available until after the fall harvest. |

Two day rainfall totals from June 21st and 22nd included: 4.06 inches at Medina; 3.81 inches at the Wadsworth Airport; 3.81 inches in Seville; 3.78 inches in Spencer; 3.41 inches in Wadsworth and 3.22 inches in Granger Township. Dozens of homes in the county sustained damage, mainly from basement flooding. Crop losses in the county are expected to be significant as many fields in the county were under standing water for several days. |

Another barn nearby suffered serious damage to the roof, and the house on the property also received substantial damage. Several other homes in the area sustained minor to serious structural damage with a couple sheds destroyed by the tornadoes. Debris was scattered for several hundred yards around the path of the tornadoes. No injuries to humans or animals were reported from these tornadoes. |

A couple roads had to be closed because of the fallen trees and there were scattered power outages in the area. |

The tornado quickly became an EF1 in Medina County and tracked around 7 miles before lifting up near the intersection of Grafton and Marks Roads. Along the 7.3 mile path of the tornado, much of the damage was to trees that were knocked down or uprooted. Some shingle and mainly minor structure damage also occurred. A barn on Station Road was moderately damaged. The max path width was 200 yards and the maximum estimated speed was 94 mph. The tornado was on the ground approximately 7 minutes. Scattered downed trees and limbs observed east of this location was determined to be a result of straight line winds. |

| April 2020 | Tornado (EF0) | Erhart | $50,000 | An EF0 tornado entered Medina County from Lorain County about 0.3 miles north of the intersection of Neff Road and Erhart Road. As the tornado continued moving southeastward, large hardwood tree branches were snapped at the intersection of Spieth Road and Lester Road along Mallet Creek. At a nearby farm on Lester Road, about 0.5 miles south of Spieth Road, a small outbuilding lost its roof panels. The EF0 tornado traveled farther southeastward and as it entered Medina, large hardwood tree branches were broken at the intersection of West Smith Road and South Huntington Street, while minor roof damage occurred at a plaza along the north side of Lafayette Road, between South Huntington Street and South Elmwood Street. The tornado dissipated at the intersection of Wadsworth Road and Smokerise Drive in Medina, where softwood trees were uprooted. No fatalities or injuries occurred. |

Hadcock Road in Brunswick was flooded by Healey Creek, which overflowed its banks and washed a vehicle into the creek. |
